After rummaging through my cluttered, yet comparatively to most people tidy, room I found my San Andreas disc. As I was searching for it I remembered the experience prior to the game...
GTA3 was out when I got my PS2, it was no big deal. Sure, Vice City was good, I picked it up on the day of release, but then, then there was San Andreas.
I'm not going to glorify San Andreas as the best game ever, it isn't. It's close, but not quite there. However I am not going to deny how incredibly hyped up I was about this game.
Before even the American release, Gamespot, IGN etc. were filled to the brim with breaking news about San Andreas. I remember when a Yank purchased a strategy guide way before the release and told of jetpacks, harrier jets, parachutes and Liberty City. God how he was laughed at.
Then he turned out to be correct. The American released had occurred. GameFAQ's was full of posts about "who's done this", "have you seen that?" and "omg that's cool". I was practically wetting myself with the apprehension.
Friday 28th October (or thereabouts) came and I went to GAME at 10 o'clock in the morning. There we queues going OUTSIDE the shop, people were buzzing with conversation about their experiences with previous games, and what they had read on this one.
No experience quite matched it, and I realise now that as I get older, I will probably have less and less time for games, and San Andreas may well be the last Grand Theft Auto that I have the pleasure of waiting for.

Do any of you have similar stories regarding Gaming Nostalgia? Do you have storied regarding San Andreas? I have many. In fact the San Andreas thread wa smy home on this forum for a week or two after the release. I shared great times with all of you, hopefully now you'll share them with me.

That thread brings the memories rushing back
