After rummaging through my cluttered, yet comparatively to most people tidy, room I found my San Andreas disc. As I was searching for it I remembered the experience prior to the game...

GTA3 was out when I got my PS2, it was no big deal. Sure, Vice City was good, I picked it up on the day of release, but then, then there was San Andreas.

I'm not going to glorify San Andreas as the best game ever, it isn't. It's close, but not quite there. However I am not going to deny how incredibly hyped up I was about this game.

Before even the American release, Gamespot, IGN etc. were filled to the brim with breaking news about San Andreas. I remember when a Yank purchased a strategy guide way before the release and told of jetpacks, harrier jets, parachutes and Liberty City. God how he was laughed at.

Then he turned out to be correct. The American released had occurred. GameFAQ's was full of posts about "who's done this", "have you seen that?" and "omg that's cool". I was practically wetting myself with the apprehension.

Friday 28th October (or thereabouts) came and I went to GAME at 10 o'clock in the morning. There we queues going OUTSIDE the shop, people were buzzing with conversation about their experiences with previous games, and what they had read on this one.

No experience quite matched it, and I realise now that as I get older, I will probably have less and less time for games, and San Andreas may well be the last Grand Theft Auto that I have the pleasure of waiting for.

Well noones posted on here and this is probably the best thread in this subforum so i will give my short story of the best moment of my childhood existence: THE RELEASE OF FINAL FANTASY 9!!! zoinks!

::WARNING ::MAY CONTAIN EXCESSIVE USE OF HYPERBOLE::

So there i was, beating the weary track home from school after spending an entire day oblivious to the intriguingly proportioned parcel waiting on the mat. I had preordered FF9 awhile back but for some reason i had miscalculated the actual release date, i wasn't expecting to receive it for a good few months. I ripped away the cardboard, barely containing my glee and found...

http://jeanphi67.ifrance.com/finalfantasy9.jpg ZOMG!!!

For a split second there, i was at peace with the universe.

Gaming Nostalgia? Yeah I remember when I bought the Sonic Mega Collection. Thats nostalgia in itself, but little did I know it had Comix Zone on it! That was an amazing game. Anyone remember that on the Mega Drive? I presume it must have been popular to get on the SMC but I didnt know anything about what was popular back then.

San Andreas is a great game. I amused myself yesterday by attempting to launch the harrier by turning upside down and flying over the airfield. To be honest it mostly resulted in blowing up, but i got there eventually because I'm sad and dont have anything to do. Game gets somewhat boring when you have done the missions and taken the gang territories (minigun minces them!) so I've been doing amusing stunts with planes and gambling all my money in the Four Dragons.

I still remember the day when i first got my playstation. I was pretty late into it, i only got mine christmas 1998. However, words could not express my glee. It was so exicting to be finally playing on a games console via the tv, whilst previously i had just been used to hand held gaming.
