View Full Version : The Scissors-Stone-Paper League

Hello all!

As you may have noticed, there's a new multiplayer game on Weebls-Stuff here (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/games/Rock+Scissors+Paper+Multiplayer/).

What I suggest is we run a league, to find the ultimate Rock-Scissors-Paper player.




Rules



This is how it will work. Anyone who wishes to be in the league, either post here or PM me. I shall put names up in a random order, in order to get the league going ASAP.


To challenge someone, announce your intention by posting here saying "I challenge [name] to a duel!" or something, and suggest a time [please do so in GMT to save confusion]. The match will then be fought, one player will send the result to me [if possible, include a screenshot to reduce odds of result-making-up], and I'll adjust the league accordingly.

You get 3 points for a win, and minus one for a lose. If your challengee does not respond with 48 hours, you automatically win and get a point.
Once everyone's played 5 games, I shall also work out a %age win figure. This is as well as the "number of wins" figure, so we could have two different top places at the same time.

You cannot play the same person more than once a day that counts towards the league!
Of course, you can play people as many times as you like per day for fun.

Note that only 100 people can be logged on to the game at once, so you might have to wait a bit. Also, most of them aren't forumites and are therefore spacks. :p

Also bear in mind I'm not Shane, I'm not an expert on the running of these :p , but I'll try my damndest to keep up and get everything running smoothly. :)

If you are worried about newbies interrupting your game, have the game room starting with the letters WSL for Weebls-Stuff League, and use the password "league". This will prevent the wrong person entering your game.

Psychological Warfare [using the "chat" box] is not only allowed, but actively encouraged. Use common sense though.




Information regarding moneys and betting



Is there going to be a charge to join the league? No. I want it to be accessible to everyone.

Will there be a prize for longest-period-of-time-at-number-1 or something similar after a month/fortnight? Yes.

Can you arrange bets with the person you challenge? Sure. Each send the amount decided on [say 10 each] to me before the match, then once I hear the result I'll send all 20 to the winner. This way we won't get petty squabbles over "you won! You're not getting my moneys."

Edit. Note the league is now open and League Challenges can begin! Any newcomers to the league will be added to the bottom of the table and can work their way up through winning games. :)

Well what do we do if there is noone from the league on, like....now for instance, do we challenge them in PMs or the thread or just wait?

This thread is good, as is PMs. It depends on what you feel will work quicker, which would probably be a PM.

You could also use #weebl IRC.


I suspect the forums will also be busier in the evenings.

Yep.

However, if you quit then join again, the bug vanishes. I suggest reposting this in the RSP thread in Frontpage Foibles so the proper authorities are notified.

Of course.


i challenge JonnyFF, PM me if you accept!

Have a quick glance at the rules. To keep the order [in which, by sheer chance, you are second in the league at the mo], you can only challenge people above you 1 or two places. Thus the only person you can challenge is CoX, for first place.

However, you could be challenged by me or Falcon16 also.

This may seem a bit restrictive and loser-y, bit it means if you lose one game you don't have huge penalties, it encourages more challenges and games to take place, and it means you actually have to be good at RSP to get to 1st place. It's to stop someone who's just joined right at the bottom suddenly beating the 1st place and skipping everyone else.

Points system now in place, 3 for a win, none for a lose.

Yeah, simple points system now in place. You both have to agree before a match that it counts towards the league though.

It's odd, the match didn't end on mine probably just a fault or something on my side.

That happens with me sometimes. Or the game restarts randomly. Or the most annoying- the music is playing and then all of a sudden it starts playing again and now there are 2 tunes playing at once.

If that happens I find just quitting the game and rejoining works well.

League table updated, interestingly it seems Eidderf is very variable between megawinn0r and losing...

It is seriously broked, me and Eidderf played two (league) games and it gave us different results, on my end i won them both, on his he won them both! I suggest a win and a loss each.

I would suggest since you got different results to simply hold the games as invalid, and [if possible] play again until you have a game in which you concur on the scores.

I could have a game each, but I think the best thing to do would be to only record games in which the final score is agreed on between both players, hence this one is illegible.

edit - Flackon16 whitewashed me. Last place, here I come...

I've been having little duels of my own, but they're somewhat evil and one sided, so I'll give this a go.

I'll enter please.

I recommend adding a password to your game and telling your opponent that password...I've been doing that for private tournaments...

/edit: argh! Why so many spamtards? Everytime I'm halfway through a game with eidderf or MichaelJackson et al, it pauses for ages, then starts a new game on top of the one before, so the theme tune is playing on top of itself, but a beat behind! ARGH!

Nice games won to lose ratio, but unfortunately only games in the league count, so it's 0 in the league.

However, I've heard of a just-happening HSR-Falcon16 match, which I'll update the league table with once I get the results.
