recently i have been having problems with my soul seek programme. when i open
it a small text box apears and says:
"could not connect to server. if your internet connection is up, the server might
temporarily be down. please try again later."
i asked a friend of mine if his was working and it was.

IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY INTERNET CONNECTION?
CAN I FIX IT?
WILL I EVER BE ABLE TO LEGALLY SHARE MUSIC WITH OTHER PEOPLE?

SOMEONE SAVE ME PLEASE!!!!!

If you have a firewall, check the neccesary ports are open.

Adding to ncv's post, if you've got a router, you may have to fiddle with the port forwarding settings; or if you're on a LAN, contact your network administrator (best foboff phrase ever).

Are all other internet-based programs - such as firefox or Outlook - working okay?

How Do I Do That?

*sigh*

Open the firewall, go allowed program list / open port list, and do the apropriate.

You do have a firewall don't you? Norton? Macaffe? ZoneAlarm?

Anything that protects your computer?

Well it depends if you have a firewall, or if it's just a router blocking it.

And to open the firewall options window double click the firewall in the bottom right corner of the screen. (If you have one it will probably be there, just look for it)

And as Monhay already said access the allow list or port list and unblock the program / open the correct ports. (You could probably find which ports the program uses in its read-me or something)

EDIT: Hmmm, yeah it probably is best to see if he has a firewall first :p

It Happens All The Time With Soulseek. If You Just Wait It Out The Problem Will Likely Sort Itself Out. That's What I've Always Done.

Oh, And Stop Starting Every Word With A Capital Letter. It Bugs The Shit Out Of Me.

kthxbye.

I always notice the alt+0157 as I use opera and it shows it, as it's not a valid character for the encoding...
