View Full Version : Composer's thread

I wanted to have a thread where composers could publish some songs they have done. Not as in the competition that was existing before. But as in a "this-song/tune-is-great-I-think-you-all-should-hear-this" kind of thread. This thread should be the perfect spot on weebls forum to spread your music to more people. The only rule is that the songs shouldnt be just any goat-piss you have created. You must be proud to have created that song. Not like"I-just-made-this-in-10-minutes". More like "I-put-all-my-soul-into-this-one"/"I-couldn't-have-done-this-better".

Its a shame though that I cant put one of my songs up here at the moment. But I will post them here as soon as I can.

Lets see what you composers/songwiters of this forum can do!

Songs and other contributions:

I have music on a MySpace account here (http://www.myspace.com/yellowsphere).

Also, to be anal, it should be "Composers' Thread"

I don't think we should have this thread to be honest as I skate and lie.

The only active threads in Music tend to be the Artist Game, What are you listening to and about two others, so we need more threads in here, and I think that recordings people spend hours over need more attention. I have a funk project coming up soon and I'm making it its own thread btw. I doubt this thread will be active and will probably be on the second page within a week.

edit: YellowSphere has been added to my friends :)

Yeah, I should really make an artist thread and just bump it whenever I have something new done. That would be a great idea actually, would get all my old stuff up to the top of the forum again. Oh well. Next time I have something new I'll post a new thread and refer back to it laters.

The main non-sticky active thread in here (excluding What are you listening to?) for ages was my very own Guitarists' Thread. Unfortunately, it is now no more. Well, it is there, but a long way down the list.

And Yay, Rob is officially my friend.

Well with that attitude it will. But you might be right.
But atleast I tried to get away from those "what song do you like to sing to" kind of threads. Though I think its worth a try. But people need to post here. Not sending links to other pages. Try to link to your song here. Show the people what songs you are rpoud of. Instead of just linking. These are my songs. No offense Soapie. But i think that you should more do something like this.

-----------------
Hey guys! Check this song out! I really love it. Hope you guys liek it too!
(some link to a song called blaha)
You could also check out some of my other songs here.
(link to another page with lots of songs)
-----------------

But Robw might be right. Atleast I tried.

Nice dude. Real things? Sounds great!!
Btw. I downloaded it. (just wanted to you to know)

Heres anyways a song by me. Though its not mixed. Its the raw material directly from the recording without any adjustments to the sound.
Before 20 Past (http://sinus.krokodil.se/03.%20Before%2020%20Past.ogg)
Hope you guys can play .ogg files.

-----------------I don't have any hosting with which I can do that. MySpace graciously host files for me free of charge with the catch that they can only be accessed from my MySpace profile.

If I did had my own hosting then I would link directly to the file, but that's not possible as I do not. Besides, when my profile loads it starts playing the file to which I would link anyway, and you can download the file from there.

I love your peice, Bewildebeast, I've heard it before. I commented on its Bodysong-ness, if you remember.

Yours is great too, Weird Bear, though I would say that the guitar can sound a bit too high in the mix at time.

Sorry Soapie. Didn't know. I'll check your songs out soon.

Thx btw for the comment. We will soon put up a better version of the song. Its mixed and the sound is great. But we havnt had the time to rip it and put it up on the net yet. But I'll do so as soon as I can.

Edit: Soapie:
Listening to it now. Its cool. Synth-music aint my favurite kind of music. But its cool. Shall download everything and listen to it all.

Edit2: Have edited the first post and added the songs and contributions made by you guys.

I'm Gay (http://www.purevolume.com/thechargeofthemarlborolightbrigade)

this took a whole evening to write and about 3 hours on a 12 track recorder to record. I personally think its pretty inspired. Give it a chance please.

My music is on www.purevolume.com/thepaperfaces (see sig aswell)

I don't think its amazing but its nice to know that you can make semi good music just with your amp, guitar, drum machine, computer and internet.

See what you think... (+ good idea thread)

I have written many songs, but I've always been too anxious about publishing them, esspecially on the internet.

These are some of the titles of my songs:

You Got It Easy
The Time Machine
Sunset Suicide (Part 2)

I have also written instrumentals:

Apocalypse
The Donkey's Knob
Sunset Suicide (Part 1)
Sunset Suicide (Part 3)
Sunset Suicide (Part 4)
Suicidal Woman

Terminal Frost:
Would be nice to hear something from them. Cant really know how your songs sound if we cant hear them. The names dont say too much. But anyways thats your decision to publish them or not. Why not join an organisation where you can make your songs your own? I dont know what organisations there are in England, but in sweden we got STIM(the Swedish Performing Rights Society). Anyways. WOuld love to hear your pieces.

Terrorbite: Nice tribute to the ladies. :)

I'll pop some music on once I have recorded/converted/eaten the songs I've recorded. They're kinda chill out.

Why not record it yourself? You cant go around hoping someone will ctach you on the street asking if you got some git-riffs to record. Get Cubase and start recording. Make your own studio.

If you have an amp with a line out then you can just plug it into your soundcard and record with windows sound recorder. That's enough if all you have to record is a riff.

What? Why do you think that Cubase is crappy? Its great! You can do lots of stuff. Like download lots of effects and other things. A great tool if you want to reacord something easy. Anyways, this thread aint about cubase.

BTW Soapie, I tried to change to threads name. But I couldnt. How shall I do it? I mean to change the threads name into Composers' thread, as you wanted in your first post.

Just a quick question. Whos the composer/songwriter of the band? You or all the members? Just wonderin. OR if you could tell me wich songs you have written on that myspace account so I can write that on the first post.

Er, well, if you can't edit it in the first post then I don't know how. I've never tried editing a thread title on here before. It's not that important, anyway.

All the songs were written by the whole band. :)

Hmm. I've never tried Logic. Maybe I should test it some time.

Playbus:
OK. Then I know. My main idea to this thread was so composers could post their own stuff. But I'll post a link to your bands account anyways and make this thread for very kind of composing, even group-composing thingy.

Hmm. I've never tried Logic. Maybe I should test it some time.Chances are that if you're used to cubase you won't like Logic. I didn't like cubase because I've always used Logic so it was confusing having to learn where everything was and slightly different terminolgy. Thusly, I just stuck with Logic.
