This problem started about 3 day ago. Whenever I go to www.gmail.com, I get the following message:
The file /mail/?view=page&name=js&ver=55bf237cc742 cannot be found. Please check the name and try again.
So I couldn't get my mail. Bad.

Then I tried it on IE, and it worked fine. I also tried it on another computer using Firefox, and it worked fine.

So basically it only doesn't work on this machine in Firefox. Not a horrible problem, but an annoyance. Does anyone know what could be causing it?

Sounds like firefox is trying to connect to the site using credentials from a former session. Assuming that you've cleared the cache and the cookies; have you tried reconnecting (if you're on an xDSL service). as renewing the IP might help.

I have no idea if Gmail turning into Google Mail in the UK (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4354954.stm) has anything to do with it, but I assume not. I'll just recommend the usual, clear your cache, cookies and reconnect jobby that has nothing to do with da-geezer's reply whatsoever...

Well it just cleared up by itself, oddly enough (it's nice when things do that, isn't it). Thanks for your help, and if it comes back I'll try those things, but hopefully I won't have to.
