I have the same problem
Although I find "right click, uncheck play" works well enough.
Although only on the w&b toons, otherwise the animation gets out of sync and you don't know which to masturbate to, the music of the animation.

Luke, just right click and selct play and that should pause it. Do it again to re-start the film.

I always just right-click and press the Play button.

But it is quite a hassle. No-one can do two things at once. No-one.

Luckily, I am left handed. You could always switch the mose to the left side, if you wanted.
