Does anyone here follow rugby league? I would class it as my primary sport, and my hometown team is the Bradford Bulls. Yes, that is the team that defeated the one-season-wonder that is the Leeds Rhinos this past Saturday.

Who would you say your team is, whether it be in the Super League, National League or New Zealand/Australian leagues? General rugby league talk can be in here, too. Sorry if there's already a thread for this.

I follow the Bulls as one of my old mates is a fan. Been to three Grand Finals, too.

It's an odd thing with Super League - I reckon it's bigger than it seems to be. Most teams usually get fairly large crowds, yet you barely hear about it outside of Sky Sports (which I don't have, btw). I personally reckon League is a more interesting game than Union - it's faster and less complicated at any rate.

Yeah, Union is, to me, just a bunch of big guys who have no skill or thought whatsoever piling on top of each other. League actually requires you to be able to do things which are productive, not a reason for grown men to play pile on.

Then you have clearly not watched a single game of Rugby Union. There is a lot more to it than scrums and rucks, Union also requires productivity. There are many players with skill, like O'Driscoll, Wilkinson and and last, but not at all least, Jonah Lomu. I could actually say that League is full of pussies who do their "chicken scratch" every time they get tackled.
And dare I mention your beloved ANDY FARRELL?

But it's boring. It's kill-the-guy-with-the-ball with scrums and stuff. When a tackle goes in in Rugby League, instead of a load of grabbing and tackling etc, the game continues and flows. It's faster and is only ever really broken up during video referee time.

At any rate I doubt this thread is actually about Union vs. League anyway.

I watch quite a bit of rugby union, actually. I watch quite a bit of the Zurich Premiership whenever I can, and I watched the whole of the Lions tour to New Zealand along with most of the 2003 World Cup when we (England) won it. Not alot, I know, but I've never bothered with it before, it's always been league for me, but I thought I should give it a look out, but nope, I still don't like it.

As for the Andy Farrell thing, he was/is a great player and good luck to him in rugby union, but in my opinion, I really don't rate him as one of my favourite players. Players I do rate are people like Keith Senior, any of the great kickers (Sean Long, Paul Deacon, Kevin Sinfield), and I admire Rob Burrow of the Leeds Rhinos for being so good at a sport when most people stereotype rugby players as being big brutes, he's kinda an inspiration to the smaller players, I guess. Shontayne Hape, and obviously the Volcane Lesley Vainkolo is a player I rate. I agree with you on the Jonah Lomu point, though. He's gotta be a legend.
