View Full Version : Flash Actionscript: Document Object Model?

I've constructed something in Flash. It's fairly basic, but it is what I hope to eventually turn into a game.
The thing is, in order to progress any further, I need to know how to let another movie clip, frame or symbol read or write to the variables of the controlled ball. I've heard of the Document Object Model in JavaScript, but I never learnt how to use it and expect it works slightly differently anyway. (improbability.ultralab.net/stuff/ball.swf)

So if someone could explain to me or point me in the direction of a tutorial explaining the above, I would appreciate it. Monetarily.
(note: checking available reward funds before assistance is considered bad manners)

I'd also like to know if there's an easy way of getting the ball to recognise complex shapes. If I wanted it to know when it had entered a circular area, for example.
