View Full Version : It's the little things in life....

So, I would just like to start off by saying that lately life has been...crappy, at best.
For the past three weeks, I've been suffering from a bad case of vertigo (basically the mechanisms in my body that control balance have been out of whack, so I'm always dizzy and losing my balance). I missed a lot of school, and I don't know if I'll be able to get fully caught up. On top of that, there has been a LOT of family angst, which I will not discuss here.
However, today, I made it through school ALL DAY, with the help of a wheelchair so I don't fall down in the hallway. In computer programming (Visual Basic), I made a little bouncy ball screen saver which amused me to no end. In band, I got to play my bass clarinet instead of sitting around like a useless twat while everyone else played marching band music. I found out that it's very possible to get extra credit in English just by burning a few songs to a CD and bringing them in on Monday. And I get to babysit my adorable five month old nephew tomorrow.
So, as the thread title says, it's the little things in life. This is the place to talk about how seemingly inconsequential things suddenly just made you feel better and made everything ok. How, even though you felt like things were falling apart, it didn't matter for at least a few minutes because of something that would be considered trivial. No matter how silly it sounds, don't be embarassed. Your supposedly stupid post might just make someone's day better.

Eating Pasta. Yes. Pasta.
Stupid, 'aint it?
My life was falling apart. And then, out of the blue, came the best damn bowl of pasta I've ever had.

Beer: the solution to all of life's problems.
Seriously though, I can appreciate what wocket's trying to say. Sure it's nice to win something, be the first to achieve something, or set a new record; but it's the little things in life that really keep people going. I'd sooner stop playing a super-scoring game on the playstation to visit an elderly relative who hasn't been seen in a while, and i'd rather hand my umbrella to someone without a coat just to see a smile.
Hell, it's little things like that which makes life all the better.
though next time, I will kick my mate's ass at NHL 2K.

For me it's when you get a really cool movie for a few quid out the sales, you get home and it turns out to be a champion film totally picks you up :)
Film in question was The Boondock Saints cost me £2.99 awesome stuff :D

McFrenzy, you and I are apparently on the same wavelength. Or at least a multiple. One day my old roommate came home with a movie he rented that even he hadn't heard of. He just picked it up and rented it. It was Boondock Saints. Fecking brilliant movie.
Here's something disgustingly mushy: my pick-me-up is my cat, Siren. If I'm feeling utter shite, I pick her up and pet her and rub faces with her for a minute, and I feel a million times better. I love my kitty.

What makes everything all better for me is taking a nap with my kitties (so I feel ya, Nicodemus). Naps and fluffy things make everything seem to go right again.

This thread is awesome,
I think the thing that cheers me up is getting hugs from people. Or if I listen to some music that really inspires me and picks me up.

Just watching or reading something funny here on the forums or the net cheers me up a treat after a bad day. If I'm down I just look forward to the good things in the near future, such as going out at the weekend.
the other weekend. I was looking forward to meeting someone, and it didnt happen, so i got abit upset, and went through the whole; god my life is shit' ( i have no money and bills coming out of my ears also) thing, for about two hours, before i finally realised: 'what am i on about? I finally kicked the twat out of my life and house, and i can do whatever the hell i like? (within reason, being a mum)
So, i spent my last tenna on a chinky, put the fire on, lit some candles, and went in search of my fluffy 'walking on clouds' socks. as soon as i put them on, i was like, 'why was i being so down?! Its raining outside, im all warm and cosy, and life is amazing' (no i wasnt drunk) and i just felt alot better about things. Finally the guy rings me full of apologies for not being able to come round and he said: 'you sound happier now' and i replied: 'Yeah, its because i put my socks on!'.

When I'm down I just go on a rampage on san andreas and take my anger out prostitutes and the police.
That always cheers me up. :)
I remember a few months ago, I drove from my uni student house back to my parents' house for the weekend. It's an hour and a half drive or so, it was a nice sunny day and the drive through the countryside got me all relaxed and yeh, it made me feel quite happy.

Driving cheers me up aswell. Its like seeing whats going on in other peoples lives.

Sounds interesting, i guess it was just the nice day and the country that got me happy. Explain what you mean by seeing what's going on in other people's lives? It sounds interesting... doesn't seem to have that effect on me heh heh.
