Yes, another iTunes buggering up thread. This time its my turn. I plugged in my iPod to let it update, and it said that I had too many songs on it so I couldn't update it, but I would have to let it make a special iPod Selection playlist for the songs to fit on. However, it put on songs which I didn't want on and left some out that I did. So I deleted that playlist (maybe this was a mistake, I don't know). Anyhow, I re-inserted my iPod to let it update again, this time having taken away some songs that I didn't want on it so that they would all fit on to the mini. Suddenly though, it comes up with this warning message:

Songs on the iPod 'ZoiPod' cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist

And so it promptly clears all musical data from my iPod, absolutely everything.

Hmm, I think to myself, this isn't good. So I re-inserted my iPod and tried again, same message. Now I begin to fret. I have a long bus journey ahead of me tomorrow which was the sole reason for updating my iPod tonight, so I wouldn't be bored tomorrow. I still can't find any way of putting my music back on my mini and I have tried creating various other playlists, but to no avail.

I need help, now, if not, sooner, it must be fixed by tonight because my bus leaves at 6 tomorrow morning.

Help, please.

Ooh ooh i had this problem, i think i know how to fix it, ill just look through the iTunes things, but on one of the menus you have to uncheck a box saying something like "Update playlists only"
Good luck, ill have a look myself for you

Got it!
Plug in your iPod, when it stops updating/not updating and it says "ok to disconnect", leave it in, and click Edit which is at the top, in one of the toolbars.
Then click prefrences and choose "iPod" and check the box that says "Automatically update all songs and playlists"
At least thats what we did, hope it worked.

Ach. Damn. I decided to re-install iTunes completely. Meaning wiping it from my computer and putting it back on, all the songs had to go back on too. This took some time. But it worked in the end and now my iPod is back to normal. But I will do what you said stabby, cheers.
