Does anyone know of a site where I can get a WAP domain name for free such as .tk does for the web. Does anyone know if I can get free WAP forums either?
Thanks

I'm a little confused here, so excuse me if I've misunderstood your post.
WAP fundamentally works in the same way as the interweb. Your mobile or embedded device connects to an ISP's WAP gateway in the same way as your computer connects to your ISP's RADIUS and intermaweb gateways. They both connect to a specified site, and retrieve the file requested. Of course in this case, the request will be for .wml/.wbmp files and such like. Nautrally, the domain name doesn't alter anything, you can go right ahead and buy your own domain name from anywhere. However, when you're hosting it, some companies might filter mobile internet traffic.
As for forums optimised for a WAP browser... I'm not entireley sure.
However, WAP isn't the golden goose that everyone first though, and now that most fancy phones have XHTML browsers built in; you may as well give it six to nine months and create a lightweight site in XHTML.

Mobile XHTML forms part of the WAP 2.0 spec (or something) :)
I've forgotten my point now.

I guess he needs a host that has the apache config changed to support the above :)
You could always get a job n pay for hosting :D

ah I see, I've got a big fuckoff WMLscript book here which harps on about WAP 1.1 or 1.2 standards. I was under the impression that XHTML (particularly the strict variety) was essentially the HTML tag list with all the depreciated tags taken out; and trailing slashes added to empty tags (e.g. <br /> rather than <br> ) to make the code more 'complete', and a load of other niggly little things such as reliance on stylesheets.
However, it's been a couple of years since I messed with that stuff. I must have been very very drunk when I first decided to cock about with it.

XHTML is indeed the core of WAP 2.0
If you want a good example of a well done XHTML mobile site, go to
