I don't think this has been done.. certainly not recently!!

What old sweets/treats do you miss that you just can't seem to buy anymore? Someone mentioned Vice Versas on the Lost thread and I can't find them anywhere and they effin rocked!!

I also loved this cheesy popcorn you could buy about 8 years ago.. was lush!!

Those sonic the hedgehog toffees
I miss them
Fat frog (ice-cream, not the drink)
And those cheap, tesco blue bars, they hit the spot
Oooh oooh oooh and cadbury's tasters

Did they have looney toon faces on the crisps? I remember something with looney toon faces on them....

Yeah that was them!

They were yummeh...

How come you can't get Taz bars anymore? They were caramel wrapped in a tiny bit of chocolate. When I say caramel I don't mean a thin layer like in most chocolate bars, Taz bars had a whole big lake of soft caramel inside. Now I have to settle for that crap Cadburys make. :nana:

EDIT: AND ANOTHER THING....What happened to Strawberry Milkyway bars? They were basically the same as the modern ones except for the inside being strawberry flavoured. I used to buy tonnes of them.

OBVIOUSLY NOT FOR LONG
sorry I'm just a bit stressed

EDIT: AND ANOTHER THING..... I haven't seen any Curly Wirlys for a while have you?

I thought Freddo's were whole chocolate?

No tasters...no taz bars...whats the world coming to?

All-chocolate trios. I even kind of miss the advert.

I also miss the days where I could eat endless chocolate and sweeties and whatever else and not put on enough weight to be classified as a small country*.

* may be one of those female weight-related exaggeration things

whyever did they discontinue the salt & vinegar walkers sensations whilst keeping all the other, slightly sinister flavours?

Surely sea salt & malt vinegar had enough of a fancy hat on?

Dime bars are impossible to find.

I actually had to get a forumite to buy me some in Finland so that my dark cravings would be sated. (they were awesome.)

Since this is the topic of 'treats', whyever did tesco take the "chocolate squares" cereal off the shelves, only to have a sad replica in 'checkers', which had naff white chocolate with it. "not enough demand", Not when I buy three boxes a week!

I think they used to be but now they have caramel inside

there are both the caramel and non caramel versions of freddo bars. thank god they have the 10p price on them otherwise my school would charge about 40p for them :p

also, curly wurly's still exist. if you're anywhere near keynsham near bristol then check out the cadbury's chocolate factory shop. i play football in the grounds of the factory (top notch facilities) so get discounted chocolate :D

So what you're saying is that your family has some bizarre power to summon rare treates. Chocomancy?

Caramac bars. Oh, they exist alright. But noone tells me where to get them over here! I was addicted to them in England, moving down under forced me to go cold turkey. The worst thing is my friend knows where to get them, but thinks its funny to not tell me. She's mean :nana:

They sell Dime bars in the little shop at my Union. They are findable, they're just rare, a bit like Chomps.

Cjw
04-11-2005, 02:20 PM
They have them in a supermarket down the road from me too. Ikea, last time i checked, sold bucket loads of dime releated stuff.

Where I live, in Ireland, just down the road there's centra, so if you live near that shop, they have curly whirleys and dime bars :D
As for the reese's thing, that's just a coincidence

Dimes are so delicious, but their generally too tiny and over-priced so you have to spend a small fortune to satisfy big cravings.

Dime bars can be found in IKEAs the world over, under the name Daim.
At 15, I'm not really old enough to remember most sweets like you old codgers are :p. Oh, Dorito 3Ds were nice, as were ROUND Smarties tubes.
Smarties just aren't the same in hexagons.

Jay
04-11-2005, 05:43 PM

Oooh oooh oooh and cadbury's tasters

My uni still sells them [in the library at least]. I bought some today. Look for the large metal Cadbury's-specific vending machines, I'm sure there's plenty on the London Underground.

As for Lucky Charms, are they dead? I imported a boxload last year [ok, a lie - my school's young enterprise company did]. I believe there's still a small box downstairs...

Yes, lucky charms, why did they have to discontinue them over here :nana: I loved them when I was smaller (even got the colour-changing mug, I'm so cool). They did have a pokemon themed substitute at one point, but they stopped too.

You can buy Lucky Charms in Selfridges, £6.00 or something a box.

I miss them harry potter sweets. They were clear and they had fizzy sherbert in the middle of 'em, and when you'd sucked on them for so long the sherbert came out and changed colour. I used to spend nearly all my dinner money on them, before the school banned the ice-cream van from coming to our school because it was too "unhealthy". :nana:

Bastards.

i used to like cheesestrings more than people

then one day they stopped tasting of lovely bland plastic & started tasting of something i can only describe as sinister

i have to endure a fate worse than the disappearence of treats...i see them every day but i know theyre not the savoury snack they used to be

Are the boxes designed by Gucci or something? For that price, they'd have to make me shit gold bullion.

Up until last week I was mourning the disappearance of Ricicles. But no, my wonderful mum not only found and bought a box, she has carried on buying them! I thought they were banned for being made entirely out of sugar!

Trios of all varieties. Where did you go?

And the only place that I can buy my favourite sweeties of all time seems to be Gatwick in the WH Smiths, terminal 3 by checking in zone D-ish. Fruitos I think they are. They are the yum but I can only get them once every few months or so :(

Also Tab clear, I miss that too. I cleared out the vending machine at school. It was so nice

I could never turn down the offering of a good little pork pie. Spend the little extra on buying a good organic one as it betters the taste so much the English language can't say how much it actually does.

If you haven't already written this on your shopping list, you smell of very bad cheese.
Pooeee.

Cadburys Velvet Eggs. Chocolate easter eggs like a cream egg, but with smooth velvety chocolate inside. Discontinued quite a few years ago, I still miss them.

Cant get Mountain Dew here either. But the sell it in Norway, we stockpiled the stuff.

Anyone else remember those jaffa cakes that were coated on both sides?

Heaven.

Also, mars midnight bars. Like mars, but with dark chocolate. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

what happened to those really cheap bags of crisps, part of the 10p-space raiders-tangy tomatoe-crew of crisps that were salt and vinegar flavour but shaped like fish and chips? they were ace :D

I think they might still be around, actually...

Irn-Bru bars used to be one of the top sellers at our school tuck shop, selling for 10p each. And now the subsidiary company of Irn-Bru that produces the bars, not the drinks, has gone bust. No more Irn-Bru bars. Ever.

Not that I liked them. It's just that people keep on asking if we have any 6 months after they were discontinued.

I think they are sold out here in Australia, somewhere. My sister gets some. Probably from the same dodgy corner shop that sells anything that has ever gone missing, much to the dismay of everyone.
