View Full Version : Russell Brand - let's get 'im canned!

You may remember this obnoxious loud-mouthed pillock on Channel 4 in the last Big Brother's Big Mouth. Emphasis on Big Mouth. And it's only just dawned on me that he's back - this time, screechier than ever - you could call him an X-list, camper version of Screech from Saved By The Bell. Almost as annoying as when a bird craps on your trouser leg, or a bee confusingly lands in your ear, or somebody buys the last Mini Milk from the corner shop. THAT annoying.

He decides to talk at least 50 decibels louder than everybody else, and I'm very worried that he might get banned from Europe altogether because of EU sound regulations, or maybe get an A.S.B.O.
Worst-case Scenario - a little aged woman is sitting in her front room in an armchair, half-watching Price-Drop on her tellybox. She shuffles around in the chair, feeling uncomfortable, and accidently sits on the remote, which flicks to E4. BANG! - an incessant whining comes from the television screen, where Russell Brand has his large bouche opens and his jaw begins to vibrate, destroying the old woman's hearing aids and sending her twitching on the carpet. She can't reach the phone and the postman has already been - WHO WILL SAVE HER NOW?

Mr. Brand prances around our screens with his buzzing voice, itching to spit out his next half-arsed gag rather than listen to what the guests' arguments/theories are. Why do those "audience" members behind him even laugh? Don't they realise that 80% of his terrible rantings never even make sense, let alone have anything to do with Big Brother. A lot of them look shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of calls to the "Big Brother Mouthpiece" are death threats to this irritating banshee plastered across our rectangular shiny surfaces.

I even had to ask my sister to turn the television down as she couldn't seem to do it by her own free will - maybe his voice controls all minds, and is actually some kind of hypnotic, subliminal controlling device devised by the twisted people who created Big Brother. Admittedly, this Celebrity Big Brother event is the most entertaining to date (for me), but when you have Big Brother, you get this sick nutter. Why can't we just have that bald bloke who now does Radio 2 - he was alright, wasn't he? I suggest we send in complaints, or start a petition to get this ignoramus off our television screens forever. You will be saving lives, and money too* - less perforated ear-drums means less people going to hospital, therefore making our taxes lower!
Please join me in this quest - removing this man will save entertainment and maybe even Big Brother. I hope you agree with me in that this man must burn in Hel. That's right Hel - that place in Scandanavia. He deserves to freeze before burning.

So, in the words of Peter Griffin, "that's what really Grinds My Gears".

*Not necessarily true...

/edit: I'll add a piccie soon...

Getting caught using hard drugs isn't as embarrassing as getting caught wanking by your mum," says Russell Brand, but this charismatic comic seems incapable of embarrassment. The day after 9/11, he dressed up as Osama bin Laden and took his drug dealer into work at MTV. Brand was fired within the week.
He was also dismissed from Xfm, for inviting homeless people into the studio and reciting porn on his Sunday afternoon radio show. He lived with a family of smack-addicted prostitutes. He was arrested and hospitalised during a gig at the Edinburgh Festival.

I think he's great, especially after seeing him on The Big Fat Quiz of the year 2006 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n7UEr_9qLA&mode=related&search=), and in the Secret Policemen's Ball (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thRw2cWRxKU). :)

The Big Fat Quiz of the year 2006 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n7UEr_9qLA&mode=related&search=)This was actually fantastic, along with noel fielding who is also a total legend.

I think he's very entertaining as a presenter, but not good at much else (I saw his stand up DVD, he wasn't all that funny).

You should see him when he is following around some guy from the BNP. When I saw that I really started to like him.

He is also quite funny on most of what he does. Although he can grate after excessive amounts of exposure.

He's a lot like radiation; fun at first, but soon becomes dangerous to health. Also has a short half-life.

I like him too. I think he is overhyped but I still think he is very witty and does an awful lot for the drug charities he is affiliated with.

beefs... lol

Big fat quiz of the year was awesome…Goth Detective Agency anyone :eng101: ?

As for the Nazi boy episode I watched that and was most disturbed to see it taking place in my ends, in my local. Bet he got beats. Good show though.

I do like Russell Brand but sometimes while he’s swirling around and screaming like a downtrodden extra from a Dickens novel on Big Mouth he just gives me a headache.

I do like him but he has a certain dualism to him. He's a bit of an enigma and he seems to change his persona constantly to fit in with his 'target audience'. Take Big Brother's Big Mouth - he's quite an annoying, swaggering, arrogant arse on that, who seems to only be there because teenage girls will laugh at whatever he says because he's strangely quite handsome and speaks like someone from a period drama, although he overdoes it.

However, on his Radio 2 slot, The Russell Brand Show he's great. He's really entertaining, brings up very interesting issues, seems to be able to defy the sensibility implaced by the BBC and keeps the show mellifluous with funny yet not hyperactive jokes. I definitely recommend the podcast for something to listen to.

So, that's it. I love the Radio Presenter Russell Brand but hate the TV version.

I don't love him, I used to hate him, but that was before I actually saw any of his stuff. (besides Big Mouth, that was bollocks) The main reason I disliked him was because of how obsessed people I knew were with him. But now, after seeing the Big Fat Quiz of the Year, and downloading his podcast of his radio show every week, he's one of my favourite comedians.

I don't really see the point in going on about how much you don't like him, fair enough, he's a twat sometimes, but most of the time he's genuinely funny.

I don't mind Russel Brand.

I do mind all the men who try to be Russel Brand by never brushing their hair and wearing tight trousers with pointy shoes.

Ponderland is amusing but i prefer his stand up, the only thing wrong with Russell Brand is he talks to fast at times

I have recently become obsessed with him, his new "mainstream" approach is really working for him.

I love his radio 2 show - fantastic
I love his stand ups
His tv work not so much ... but he's good as a guest or panel person ie big fat quiz of the year

and did anyone see the Jack Kawarak (sp) documentry ? ... again really good

I love Russell Brand. He's quick witted, extremely clever, genuinely funny in my opinion... and makes Jonathan Ross look like a total idiot.

His autobiography rocks too. :)

This, I also felt \i understood his title more (My Booky-Wook) because of course his podcast, if you have not subscribed, do so, it's fantastic.

he's good most of the time.

I think when he's put next to another comedian he looks not so great. On the big fat quiz of the year, for example, when Rob Lydon asked for him or noel fielding to come up with something funny to say about Heather Mills, Russell answered with, "Nimble Scrumping" which is just funny because it just sounds funny. Noel Fielding actually came up with a decent joke about her stealing one sock from her neighbor's washing line.

I just get the impression that he's so confident in his abilities as a funnyman that he'll be lazy and say anything in his loud cockney voice and expect to recieve a laugh.

I also saw him interview Tenacious D and he seemed to to be trying really hard to be funny and get laughs while Jack Black and Kyle Gass were just effortlessly being absolutely hilarious, really laid back.

But on the whole he's good. His "Shame" standup i think it's called is really good.
