View Full Version : LuaLua's Son's Death Kept From Him

Lomano LuaLua's has asked for privacy as he learned that his son died at the age of 18-months. "I am devastated by the tragic loss. I am grateful and appreciative of the kind wishes and support I have received from everybody. As I am sure everyone will understand, I just wish to be with my family and be allowed to grieve privately."

Now it is a tragedy, but most would not think it thread-worthy.

However, reports are coming through that LuaLua was not told by DR Congo immediatley. They "hid" the news from him, until they were eliminated by Egypt, when he flew back to England directly after hearing the news.

And I have just read that the child died on Jan 20th. They kept it from him for two weeks! All beacause they didn't want their captain distracted for the African Cup of Nations.

That is appaling.

If that's true, then that is truely disgusting.

As much of a passionate football fan I am, there are more important things in life.

completely and utterly wrong, that sort of news should never be kept from anyone

No possible justification for that sort of thing, I'd quit playing for my country if I were him, I wouldn't want to play for someone who would keep that information secret from you.

That is shocking news. People react in different ways and he may still have played. Rafa Benitez stayed out in Japan to manage the team even though his father had died.

I am not sure that the DR Congo FA could be punished but they should be.

I think I'd quit any team that has subjected me to that treatment. This would be the last straw. On January 26 he spoke proudly to an African newspaper about his three children while at the African tournament - unaware that the boy had died.So sad.

Disgraceful.

If I was him I'd never play for them again.

Read about his son's death, but I didn't think for one minute that it had been kept from him

That's appalling, and dogincognito is completely right. I'd walk out of international football for that

Family comes a long way before football. If I was him, I'd want to know straight away.
He'd better walk out of the international game. I know I would.
