If I also have time ill put up scores of games, even if you want to you can ( on your favorite team).

my favorite is the Devils. Since I live in NJ. Yes who made the record for most wins in a row . They got Broduer and used to have Stevens. Which retired after a couple concusions :nana: We all miss him

haha, good luck with this thread dawg; I been trying for nearly two (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22308) years (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37501) to get it to take off :D

I seen the feature on British TV about Scott Stevens retiring, poor guy was almost in tears. He was a fantastic player, pretty beefy too. If that guy came skating at me I'd think less about checking and more about how many bones I'd break. It's nice to see one of the "old skool" get his name in lights though; but the Devils have a whole host of players that can step up and fill the gap. Any one of the fantastic E-G-G line that NJ have got could do the job well. As you also mention, Brodeur is one of the best goaltenders in the league right now, and he's only just hit his thirties so he's still got a fair bit of his career left to play out.

Looking at that conference table you posted going into the olympic break; I'd never have thought that the Rangers would be top of the tree. This time two years ago they were really struggling; the chequebook boys having the talent, but none of the magic that binds a team together. The Flyers are always exciting to watch, consistantly good, but still lack that X-factor to bring Stanley home; and I'm surprised to see the Devils in third there.

Looking at the conferences (http://www.nhl.com/standings/20052006/conference_standings.html) it does indeed look like the Devils are on course for a playoff spot. They're a good three games clear of the bottom playoff team, which given their strong and experienced team, they should be able to maintain that margin throughout the home stretch. I'm getting awful worried about the Capitals though, I was expecting them to perform a little better this year. Still, after the salary dump in late 2004 - where we shifted key players like Jagr, Gonchar, and Konowalchuk - coach Hanlon has always maintained that there's a strong core of young talent just waiting to step up, but it's going to take a while. Suuure, it'd be nice if he pulled a few from Hershey and gave a couple of guys some NHL experience though...

At the moment, things are looking pretty good for the long term. We've got a solid back end with Ollie Kolzig having just signed a contract extension, and Witt using his experience to keep the other guys in check, even though he seems to be going through some discipline issues lately. Other names of note are Zubrus and Ovechkin, two defence-killing players who can't get enough of that red light. We've got a nice pool of talent that's almost ready to come to fruition too, with Jakub Klepis, Aulin, Cutta, and even Brian Sutherby to be supported by long term favorites Jeff Halpern (who I'm surprised didn't get into the US Olympic Squad) and the aforementioned Zubrus.

As for the home stretch; I don't know what's going to happen in all fairness, but it's always exciting and things always get better towards the playoffs. Happy days!

Maybe Ill have more luck. The devils won that game when Stevens retired by alot. The perfect gift to a retired man. We had to turn the volume down. The fans were crying not scream

I have a Calgary Flames top.

Thats about it with me and ice hockey. I would probably watch it if I got the chance, but we get none living in New Zealand. At least none on Free TV.

heh, I've not been keeping up to date with the nolympic Ice Hockey, simply because my body clock's in "omg retarded US timezone mode" and I'm never up to watch them. I was surprised at the women's hockey though, a lot slower, a lot less aggressive, but the slapshot goals from the hashmarks and from the blueline are equally as spectacular.

I got both the home and away Caps jerseys, one from '95, one from '73 (a "vintage" re-release) and one of their training jerseys. Though, I seen they've moved from CCM to Reebok, not sure whether Reebok acquired them or anything; but fuck off am I shelling out another £150 to buy new jerseys with a different manufacturer name on them ;)

I'm hoping to jet out to Washington later in the year to catch a Capitals game, that'd be ooooh nice, just I don't have the cash to do it at the moment :D I've been loosely following the Elite league though; and seeing as Cardiff is only down the road, it's nice to watch some professional european teams playing a different style of hockey to the US.
