The rules of April Fools state that the pranks must be done before midday. So either Jonti is in hospital, or they suck at April Fools.

For everyone in the USA and Rochdale:

April Fool's Ends at 12pm!
It would be a sick joke to pretend he is in hospital.

Lestat
01-04-2006, 02:23 PM
In my opinion, its a big april fools joke. I mean, for one thing, its april fools day (duh). About this whole "its after midday" thing, wouldnt it make it an even more believeable, and therefore actually good, joke if it broke a rule slightly? Also:
Apparently the first info I got was a little inaccurate, and it was sometime around mid day that Jonti was hit. I mean, a little more than coincidence?
And the whole landing on his left hand and being left handed? This is either a good joke or possibly the most misfortunate thing to happen to one person ever. But anyway, either I'm right, or I'm going to feel like a huge prat tommorrow.

Well it's not really a good joke, because if it isn't real it isn't exactly funny is it and pranks are meant to be funny. I hope it is a joke but it wouldn't be a very tasteful one if it was.

Stringy Pete
01-04-2006, 02:36 PM
Well if it is a joke, then it sucks in two ways,
a)It was after 12.
and
b)It's a pretty sick joke to pretend that someone has been seriously hurt. Shows a distinct lack of creativity, akin to pretending someone is dead.

Lestat
01-04-2006, 02:41 PM
Ah, well what I meant by it being a "good joke" is that it fooled a lot of people. Of course it would be very tragic if it isnt, but, I'm still, sticking by my argument that every sign points to a big hoax.

HeavyT
01-04-2006, 02:44 PM
It's obviously fake.

Do you think Skoo would bother wasting his time telling the forums/site that Jonti was hit by a car?

He's one of his close friends, Im sure he would be at his side or at least in the hospital waiting for news. Rather than logging onto the internet every hour or so to give the world an update.

I do like the fact that Skoo said Jonti lost feeling in his left hand and then pointed out ever so graciously that Jonti is left handed. Hinting that this could be the end of the W&B flash.

Sebas
01-04-2006, 02:46 PM
Yeah, I thought this was a joke, but found it rather inconsiderate to point it out, just in case it wasn't.

However, get well soon, Jonti. If this is a joke, he'll need it anyway, for splitting his sides with laughter. If it's not a joke, I sincerely mean it.

Lestat
01-04-2006, 02:55 PM
Haha, no one has read the front page lately then? Let me save you the trouble of going back to that page:
3:38pm My ride just called me and said they got stopped by the police. Apparently there is a huge road-block near my house, and a police hellicopter overhead. I looked out of the window and sure enough I could see around 20 police, and 2 or 3 sniffer dogs in my street! I swear, you couldn't make this stuff up.

3:44pm One of my neighbours called me to say that there is an escaped murderer in the area, and to check all my doors and windows are locked. It doesn't look like I'll be able to get out to see Jonti just yet.

3:51pm I heard some barking dogs outside which I figured were more likely to be from the guy across the street than the sniffer dogs, but shortly after this I heard what sounded like automatic gunfire. I raced to the window to discover a man laying in the middle of the street being approached by a lightly armoured man (bulletproof jacket thingy, helmet, etc) with a rifle of some kind.

Now what was i saying about a hoax?

That means you totally fell for it. The time thing is an excuse that people use when they want to act like they didn't fall for it. There is no 12 o clock on the internet. Did google take theirs down at 12, nope! Sure the start was rather black, but if you've been reading the updates (and know what I had planned) you'd probably be less of a grouch about it.

That doesn't make any sense. You don't pull April fools pranks on June 27th, so why would someone pull an april fools after 12? I chose to believe it because it was after 12, if you'd posted it at 11:59, I would've called BS til I was red in the face.
There is no 12 o clock on the internet
That's funny, your news post has a time underneath it.
Did google take theirs down at 12, nope! Sure the start was rather black, but if you've been reading the updates (and know what I had planned) you'd probably be less of a grouch about it.
The other websites managed to pull their april fools before 12, hence they haven't taken it down, they've already 'pulled the prank' so to speak.

I 'fell for it' because I chose to given the time of day it was posted, and the poor taste if it was intended to be a joke. In my opinion, this was a bit of a poor April fools joke. I'm not going to kiss ass and say it rocked my socks because it didn't. I feel the initial post was in bad taste. I feel that all of the work WS does is good, but this, in terms of April fools pranks, fell well short of the usual things you produce.

I'm probably going to come across all wrong in this post. Never mind.

i think this whole thing about cynicism and caring being opposites, or cancelling out or whatever is a bit odd.

i'm a caring person, i would care very much if Jonti had been run over. however, my cynicism and suspicion led me to believe that he wasn't run over.
therefore, it would be silly for me to worry and feel sorry for him, since to me, there was nothing wrong.

Here here! About as funny as bowel cancer.

Dam you Weebl. You won this time. Still now you do know we all care about yas. There was me hoping for a kittendirecttoyourdoor.com style thing, but oh no.. let's kill Jonti, everyone loves a amputee.

Ah well. Big kiss.

01-04-2006, 07:25 PM
Not the best of jokes, really. Rather obvious, and Jonti getting hit by a car isn't funny. Yes, other sites have made them rather obvious, but they're still funny when you see them.

Dissapointed in you skoo :(
So yeah it was meant to be a joke, but to be honest I'd have thought you'd be able to come up with something FUNNY. Helping out with the web comics and all, originality is supposed to be your thing, no? But hey, lets go with the car accident thing yeah. Brought up bad memories of a friend who died in a car crash..thanks.
Fucks sake, Worst Joke Ever.

Just to spite:

Best joke ever.

Until I 'shaving cream bomb' someone.

Like I always say, people, you have to learn to laugh at almost everything.
Otherwise you'll go insane.
(Nobody point out that constantly laughing is kinda insane. It's a figure of speech, you don't have to literally laugh out loud every time something happens.)

There's also a joke from that advice.. with a small addition.

Dear internet, black humour is ace.

April fools has no rules. Sorry, all this midday crap is just that, crap. The best pranks need time, see how the firt couple updates were still kinda believable? Yeah, awsome wasn't it. I'm not going to say this is the best prank going, but at least it's more interesting than "Look, we changed the colours on our website, lol, april fools!"

I heard worst jokes, after it became obvious the thing was fake it quite funny, especially the last picture. People should calm down, it's April 1st the day you should be paranoid of everything especially the internet, also just be relieved Weebl was not run over by a car.

Oh right. It was a joke then - I've only just checked back after this morning, when there wasn't much stuff on there and the first sentence implied it wasn't an April Fool.

Erm... not your finest hour, I'd say. Have you been watching too many David Firth cartoons? :O

Hey everyone! I've got cancer! Just kidding.

Changing the colours, convincing people that it's another site. Blech. Amputation? that's funny. Arrested Development has taught us that much.

I think it's hilarious. Why the fuck are so many people getting thier heckles up about this?

I have to ask, how many of you Know Jonti personally? No-one I'm guessing. So why all this "Oh that's not funny, was so worried, humph, sulk" bullshit?

There is no watershed on comedy.

TBH I can understand some people taking this seriously for different reasons, and from reading exup's profile:

I can understand why he left, but most of us (because quite a few seem to be pretty angry) need to lighten up.

When I read the first part of it I had no reason to suspect it was a joke, and experienced heartfelt worry for his health. I believed it, because in my eyes, april fools jokes finish after 12 o'clock. People that then told me I am taking it a bit too seriously, and that I needed to lighten up, you are the fools my friends, not me. I can understand that the news post as a whole is a joke, but for people who read the first post and took it seriously, it is far from a joke, and was in extremely bad taste.

I forgot, this isn't the Weebls-Stuff forum, it's the 'Kiss their ass forum'. It's called having an opinion. I love all of their work, just this one got my goat a little.

So good of you to be able to see inside other peoples heads... you must teach me that someday, as it may come in handy [/sarcasm]

I've been reading this thread all day and once more it amazes me how people react to criticism on these forums.

Criticism is constantly being mowed down with "well, logout then", "if you don't like it, ignore it" or some other phrase to the same effect and then laughed away with a comment how brilliant the makers are.

While of course this is flattering, it's also a bit dull, wouldn't you say?

Being entitled to your own opinion does not mean keeping quiet about it if it is a valid argument but doesn't praise the site.

Personally, I found the joke in bad taste too and I *was* genuinly worried.
Of course I considered that it could be a prank, and decided that should it be so, I'd be angry, and even hurt. Why? Because I do not like my feelings being toyed with, not even on a forum. It's a line I draw, and it is far from arbitrary.

Still, there is no reason for me to call you all socially handicapped misfits that are in serious need of a dose of "grow up and get a life". Because I know that for the most part that isn't true.

Why then must others who express their distress and disgust be treated in that way if they voice their opinion? Save it for the Bin, where people know it isn't intended as an insult.

It's been said more times than once: "It's not your place to fight the managements fights for them".
If someone attacks you, go ahead.
If not, please step of your high horse as it is not yours.

For the rest, this was just my 0.02 and now I am going to do other stuff because I am old.

D. out.
