Well, maybe not much of an idea, but more of a suggestion.
We do have a wide variety of boards in the Special Interests area... BUT..
I was just sitting here eating my chicken nuggets with Frank's Red Hot sauce on them and I was wondering... why don't we have a food forum? I wanna talk about hot stuff!
Is there anybody else here who would enjoy having a food forum to post interesting recipes or other food related items in?

No. It wouldn't be big enough. You can talk about food in general pap.

This is the best counterargument anyone could think of.

So very true, geezer.
It's a bit too specific, IMO. All hobbies/interests should really go into general pap. Except gaming, because we're all nerds who love computer games.

Maybe a subforum somewhere, but not a forum in it's own right. Not enough culinary interest in this place.

Well, I've got the interest and the stomach to prove it!
I've got a feeling LemonadePudding might be interested...

I think that a food board might be quite interesting. It could become a great resource for recipes, concepts and what-have-you!
We could invent new meals! We start from the ground up, discuss ideas and make different variations of the meals before we proceed to tell others how it all worked out!
Yes, the possibilities are endless!

Perhaps a more General board which could incorporate food and other stuff into it.
A "Life" board perhaps, but that's a little to vague.
I don't think the mods like making new forums anyway.
Adding a food forum would just add another topic that people then flame when it comes up in general pap!
gerenal pap is your forum for general stuff and other stuff that doesn't have its own specialised area.

Yup, and I don't think there are enough quality threads in pap, so if you want to make an intelligent thread about food in here, go for it.

If anyone want's to suggest how I should cook a lamb shoulder I have in the freezer for myself and a lady-friend, I would be very grateful.
I thought of starting a thread for recipe sharing once. Even if it doesn't become a sub-forum, then sure, start a thread on the topic of food if you want.

Is there anybody else here who would enjoy having a food forum to post interesting recipes or other food related items in? Would be good. But I think new forums opening just sets the floodgates on "ready" -- so that all it takes are a few more great ideas and suddenly you've got too many requests for boards that won't really be used much.
I've often wondered why there's a board for movies, tv, and books combined. But barely anyone ever says anything about a book or books in general. Are we that uncultured? :p
^ my inner librarian talking. feel free to ignore the last bit.
I think a sub-forum is only required when there are literally tens of threads on a subject everyday.
If I recall correctly the last sub-forum to be made was Sports and Bets because pap was getting full of sporty things that many of us found terribly boring.
Seriously now, anymore sub-forums and what will we talk about in gen pap?
Food hasn't been a popular topic for years. In fact, food/cooking was pretty much non-mainstream ever since the Cuban Missle Crisis (Not that it has anything to do with it).
Along with it, damn near all the threads (which is very few) I have seen about cooking or food was about disgusting encounters in LWIF.
There is also the country border. I really couldn't relate to the British talking about their Spotted Dick or the Scottish and their Haggis. Most sub-forums we have contain are often more universal in their topics. Of course, I'm not saying that simply because some people may not relate to certain topics is a reason not to have a sub-forum, it's just that people from all over will have tastes from all over, and past arguments in other areas of this forum have shown our members are, all-in-all, hostile xenophobes (or elitists, whatever rocks your boat).
To put it blunt, I think the whole notion of a food-oriented thread seems like an idea formed and enforced by an anal-retentive habit of organization.

i once started a thread on my culinary disasters and that proved quite popular for about 24 hours until it disappeared into oblivion, but other than that and a couple of threads about some people's burger/whisky experiments i've not really seen any food-related threads. however, i would love to see a recipe exchange of some sort as i am an enthusiastic amateur chef, although i'm not sure how popular it would be.

the recipe idea i like. someone might reveal the secret of how to make cakes/cookies & not fail. im presuming its something to do with not applying measurements by eye or guesswork. i really do try, i made a giant jelly bean brownie last week. it looked quite good if you squinted.
in general i think it would generate a rise in food threads for a little while then die down fairly fast. but if lots of food threads get made itll keep pap busy. it gets lonely sometimes.
