View Full Version : An Apology
Cheddar Chess

I want to make an apology to the whole forum. I know I've made some mess ups ever since I got to this forum. I promise I'll try my best to do better on the forum so eventually we'll all move on and forget about this. No, I am not some mod or admin who made me as an April Fools' Joke, but a real person, to all of you who had that theory.
Please forgive me, and understand I'll do better. Thank you for reading.

I was gonna say that the guys were a bit harsh here but considering some of your earlier posts...
Read the FAQ's and think before you post. Remember that your opinion is not more important than anyone elses so keep civil even if you don't agree with people. It works here, it works almost everywhere else worthwhile on the internet.

a new person getting flamed by tards is not on; pm a helpful mod (DESTRUKTO) if you have received abusive rep comments or are feeling picked on
your posts may not have been brilliant but they certainly aren't deserving of the treatment you have been given IMO (especially given that most of those flaming are shit members anyway)

The apology is nice, but other forumites, please forgive and forget. Give this one another chance for now, and don't minus for the sake of it. You know he's been minused enough already.

I apologise for getting on your back earlier and it does seem that you've learned from your mistakes and you're looking to start again. Try not to worry about rep as it doesn't really mean anything, you might want to get adopted in the sticky in this section and try to not get so wound up about things.
Have fun.

Welcome to the forums, I hope you can have fun here after all that's happened. :)
EDIT: What the hell? I've just read a lot of Cheddar Chess's first posts, and they weren't all that bad. There was hardly any reason to complain about them at all compared to a lot of other people's first posts.

i think we can all see that you are actually sorry, so welcome to the forum and i hope it all starts getting better for you etc.

Somebody who isn't afraid to stand up and say "I did wrong, I'll sort it out and do better from now on" (or words to that effect) is always deserving of a second chance. Good on yer.
Apology accepted. Now all you need is a side-splittingly hilarious thread or article to get you in the green.

It's probably fine.
Most of the people flaming you were idiots anyway, as said.

This is just another example of forum elitism. I would take a guess to the forumites who minused him but it's really not worth it. I think people have to realise that this is (compared to other forums) a very well established and well run forum. Other people may come here from other forums and not instantly understand the style/tone of posting here.
It will take people awhile to get used to the humour and the rules we have here. Even if they sat and read the FAQ constantly for a year, you can't beat the experience of people who have been here for years and know how things work. Sadly, these are the people who allow their experience to go to their heads and minus people at the first opportunity.
It would be better if people stopped minusing for very little reason (and this is only a handful of people, really). He may have made a few rubbish posts but to be fair, we all have. I think people should stick to minusing only if the post is very offensive or breaks any forum rules, and not just if the post isn't to your standards.
Also, it's good of you to apologise. I hope you're used to us all now. :p

What she said. I can't remember the last time I minused someone...
I'm more of a 'spread the love' kind of guy.
Welcome to the forums, and good luck!

This is just another example of forum elitism. I would take a guess to the forumites who minused him but it's really not worth it.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I was one of the ones who minussed him. Basically the reason for this is because I saw several of his posts as crap and spam, and though I wouldn't normally minus just for that (except in extreme cases) there really was a lot of it, especially in that "Homesar!!!" thread in LWIF. The post that really got me was this:
http://weebls-stuff.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1186276&postcount=15
Which frankly was very childish and lame. At this point you should have realised that the thread was getting nowhere and should have just left it, at the very least.
As a side note, I also minussed and reported What? for the blatent insults and abuse that he gave in the same thread (really some serious verbal abuse), E.G.
http://weebls-stuff.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1186377&postcount=69
http://weebls-stuff.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1186363&postcount=62
http://weebls-stuff.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1186343&postcount=47
And a fair few others that I can't be arsed to pick out.
Back to the matter at hand though, good on you Cheddar, it takes quite a lot to apologise like this. I also notice you're back into positive rep, quite a feat considering the two minus-bars you had yesterday.
Oh, and just make sure you read the FAQs etc. If you haven't already.

You didnt have the best of starts to this forum but you are young and still learning, grasshopper.
Perhaps put a little more thought into threads and posts and you will be fine :)

I would like to apologise for the flaming. I was in a bad mood and people being complete n00bs and not reading the rules is one of the few things that really pisses me off. I hope you enjoy your time in the forums.

Well can't say I ever read any of your posts but whatever, just chill out and don't take the internet so seriously.
Stop by the cheesebin and have a bit of a laugh some time. :)

Seriously though, if you just go to the cheesebin and read some of our posts and try to put yourself on a parallel with that, but more maturity when outside the cheesbin, then you'll do fine.

Thanks, everyone. :)
I also promise that I'll make sure another thread like Homsar won't have another problem. It's pretty much gone completely off topic.

cheddar chess: you've made an average of 40 posts per day! and you've made 7 threads, 2 of which have been successful.
i think you need to slow down a bit and think more before you post.
remember, unless you're really quick with editing posts, then someone will see what you've put. most likely what you've posted will stay there for quite a while before people stop reading it. so think before you post.
i think this apology was a good idea, the worst part about making mistakes at the start is getting back up to normal, but you've managed that.
congratulations. but don't slip, or you'll end up in trouble again.

You can be needlessly harsh and/or blunt Ozzylator.
As for Cheddar Chess, I totally sympathise. Everyone used to hate me back when I joined, which is alarmingly long ago now. My point is, people either forgive you or forget you were ever crap and you make a new start. Besides I genuinely did suck when you seem to be a reasonable person. Have fun on these forums.
edit- hurrah for Cloud Trifle editing Ozzylator's post!

How the heck did that homesar thread carry on for 32 pages? :p
But don't worry about it Cheddar Cheese, every forumite has posted crap in their time here, you just happened to get it all out of your system within two days thats all! It will all blow over quickly and we will soon only remember the polite, keyboard savy person you seem to have become. :)

You people are acting like that Homsar topic was a bad thread.
That was the best topic this fucking dull forum has had grace it since Scrambled made his thread about mixing drinks long ago.
32 pages of nonstop laughter.

Another tip - if you can't post your way to the top with well thought out threads, original ideas and friendliness, then just blatantly arse kiss those with higher rep then you. It will get you places in no time! :D
(Nothing against you Zekey, I'm aware that you're not exactly a fan of your vast fanbase)

I have thoroughly enjoyed this extended April fools joke.......
nah I'm kidding :)
It's nice to see someone actually do their best to change, a lot of people've treated you very unfairly (those people will be getting their rep sodomised in the next few days). Hope you do stick around, anyway; you'll no doubt fit in fine now you've got your head around the forum a little better :).

Well I wasn't around for all the malarky about this. I've read a few of your posts and can see that maybe your attitude wasn't the best, but as others have said, it takes guts to apologise and you obviously wanna make friends here, so I say forgive and forget :) Welcome to the forums :)
I don't think anyone comes onto the forum and immediately posts perfect, humourous and intelligent posts, so those who felt the need to flame this guy, think about when you started and give new people a break. You have to remember, the expected standard of posts on this forum is a lot more demanding than many others.

At least you are trying to make up for your false start - which is a very good thing.
And I see you're back in the greens now already.
