View Full Version : Desktop Video Capture
I'm looking for a program that lets you capture what is being shown on your computer. I'd prefer if it was free and not a trial version unlike the ones I have already found.
+s for those who find useful stuff.
The Prt Scr (print screen) button?
Not sure if thats what you mean.
No, I want VIDEO capture.
One of these?

The second one just ads a little red tag on the video.
Havent tried the first one.

Windows Media Encoder.
It has video screen capture but it's quite slow from what I've seen.
Wow. They made a new page for it too.

Windows Media Encoder.
Is crap.
I downloaded it, tried it with every different encoding(divx, xvid, and all the other ones), on two different computers and it came out bad quality on highest settings.... not to mention the file size.
if you have got very different results from this, please share what you did.

You've gotta pay attention to the encoding properties.
There's different bitrates for different reasons. I wasn't even aware it would encode to DIVX format, just maybe MP3, WMA, and WMV.
What you're suppossed to do is select bitrate, put in the info tags if you want, put down what file you want to archive the broadcast to if you want (I don't know what file formats it archives as, I only did WM and MP3 maybe.), then Start Encoding and when you're done, stop encoding.
You sure you're using version 9?

Yep, im using 9, i'll search around into properties.
Wrong program, another one i tried used xvid and divx etc.
The colors are a bit munted, otherwise its okay.

This is what you do.
Open the program and you see this.

Double click the Screen Capture one; you get this.

Then there's different options for each selection from there, and it's quite self explanatory.
Gotta love Microsoft and their helpful tips. :D
