I'm 14 years old and have recently created a new website, or at least the basic page layout for it. I'm quite a noob at web design but I enjoy it. SmidgeCartoons is where I'm going to put all my celebrity sketches, crap flash anims and some other stuff. I was wondering if anyone can have a look at an image of the layout, hosted on Putfile, and give some feedback on things like the banner, general style etc.
Please keep in mind that the main navigation bar has a lighter rollover with a popping sound effect. Each page has a different cartoon image on the right, drawn by me. The image you'll see on the link is the downloads page and is some geeky, nerd type boy. Also, the links on the left have no sound but a light grey rollover. The bottom of the image is cropped off but there is nothing there of interest.
The site template was made in Dreamweaver 8. Please give constructive critisicm, keeping in mind that I am only 14. Thanks

Looks hot.
That IS nice! Would be good if the little furry thing ontop of the menu did something when you rolled the mouse over it. Maybe his eyes pop out or something. Just one thing. Don't host on .tk. It has a waiting thing at the beggining, and adds an advert at the top. I think it makes popups come on as well.

Yes, I've learnt from experience not to use .tk anymore. As for the furry orange thing, I'll consider creating a rollover. The image doesn't show it, but at the bottom of the left navigation there is another furry orange chin- it's supposed to be like a header and footer for the nav.
Keep up the help, thanks.
Any more comments please? I NEED TO KNOW!!

But im just nitpicking really, good work.
Im gonna "try" editing the nerd on the right into a cool dude to see if it changes anything for ME personally. just me. :nana:

One thing I'd recommend is that, if you're using the orange fluffy thing in the logo, I wouldn't use it as a header/footer. Apart from that, it looks good.

Thats brilliant, and it shows that people my age can pwn my ass when i thought i was good at it.
Basicly nothing needs improveing but try and make some of the images move a bit and make it that much more cooler :D

It's good, the design especially so,
A quick question though, when you say you made the template in dreamweaver, do you mean that you used the WISIWYG features of dreamweaver or you wrote the code for it in dreamweaver ?
If there was anything that I think needs improvement, I would have to say the menu at the top - the gradient looks a bit too much - perhaps if it was little more subtle ? Just my two cents, though.
Awesome design anyways - just think - if you can make things to this quality at fourteen, what will you be able to do by sixteen or eighteen ? :)
EDIT: And by the way, if you need someone to, I'd be happy to take a look over dreamweaver's code for you and make sure it's validated correctly, displays the same in several different browsers etc. :)

Thanks for the comments, I used WYSIWYG, I don't trust myself with coding just yet. I will be making a rollover effect for the furry thing, and I'll post back when the site is completed.

If you build Lightbox into it I'll sex you
(an example of lightbox on my clan site (make sure the page has fully loaded then click an image): www.gauge12.co.uk/roster.php)
Edit: Also some sort of background would be nice, maybe a dark grey rather than black, a gradient/crosshatched one would look good methinks.
