Recently, I've really wanted to get the games on my xbox 360 to record as video files on my computer. I want to make a red vs blue style movie, but haven't a clue where to get started.

Questions:
What's the way to connect xbox to pc? Ethernet cable or usb?

What sort of video capture card will I need? Does this need to be installed inside the computer, or are there external ones?

What sort of software will I need, or will this come with the video capture card?

Anyone like to refer me to a good capture card/software for under £50 if possible please.

As you can tell, I know very little about computers, but I'm enthusiastic about this and willing to give it some time.

Thanks for any responses, +es for people who give me some links to cheap vid. capture cards with software or just good advice in general.

Thanks,
Sniper mouse

For video capture, this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=18236894552&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=54154) would work fine. Simply plug the component video output from your xbox into the card and use the supplied software or Windows movie maker to record. For sound, you'll need one of these (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1218&criteria=Phono%20Adaptors&doy=15m4) to plug the audio cables into the line-in on your PC.

nah, that card you put the link in has composite (therefore phono built in)... he wouldn't need the second card. also, a good rule of thumb is that the more you spend on a video card, the higher the quality of video it'll produce. also, you'll still be needing a fairly capable computer to accompany the card. a high-end card coupled with a shitty pc has an end result of a crappy video.
