Since sometime last week, I was able to view Quicktime files on Firefox, then I downloaded an Embedded QuickTime file, and there after Quicktime won't work. On various websites it comes up with the quicktime logo on a torn piece of paper. I checked the Apple website and the latest version seems to be installed.
I asume it's something really straight forward, and I hope someone can help me with it.
Many thanks in advance.

are these torn logos where flash items should be?

Nope.
I found this, (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/help/pluginerror) It might have been that. I restarted the browser but it still happens.
I will restart my PC later and see if it has any effect then. If not I have to use (painful to type it) IE :(

I've got the same problem, and IE works for flash, but I absolutely hate IE and refuse to use it (I only did to check).
I've reinstalled quicktime, reinstalled firefox, updated both, rolled back both and am now at my wits end trying to figure out what to do. I've checked the MIME settings for quicktime and all the flash things are unchecked. I'm one step away from virus scanning, spyware scanning and defragging my hard drive, which I did two days ago.
If anyone can spare me the horrors of half a day away from my laptop, please do :D.

Uninstall Quicktime.
Back up your bookmarks and delete your user settings from the documents and settings folder i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\ACCOUNT-NAME-HERE\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\PROFILE-NAME-HERE
Then restart Firefox and reinstall quicktime/extensions.
Bit of a pain in the arse but it fixes almost everything.

My PC was fixed by installing the latest edition of quick time.
