Which firmware is better, 2.7 with flash player and demos or 2.6 with emulators and roms ?
Im considering upgrading but im not sure.
2.7's been completely patched meaning quite a lot of homebrew (including the GTA CheatDevice) is locked out, but includes the Flash Player. I'm sure there's a Flash Player hack somewhere?
Of course, eventually when you buy a new game you'll be forced to update to 2.7, but stick with 2.6 as long as you can.

For what it's worth, the Weebls Stuff animators aren't very happy with the Flash support.
being that it's only flash 6?
I hope they implement flash 7 or even 8 if they get the chance in 2.8 or whatever - but there isn't enough memory on board to cope with the files, is there?

Mostly because it's Flash 6, but apparently also just general performance, as well as the fact there's a 2meg cache (which is apparently small, I don't know). It seems likely they'll update it in future, I don't think it's as simple as getting a file from Abobe and slapping it in a firmware patch, the one on there now isn't straightforward Flash 6, as it has some features of Flash 7 in it. This is all 2nd hand information, so it could be wrong. I do know that the chaps are fairly serious about doing lots of PSP content, though.
that's great news :D
a 2mb cache is quite small, there's some files which are bigger than 2mb than that meaning you can't view the whole thing. is there an offline flash player?

For those of us who dont really car about homebrew stuff (i've even grown bored of the cheat device to be honest) 2.7 is better. All the function of 2.6 with a couple more features.

The 2 meg cache limit seems a bit odd since some flash files that are waaaaaaaaaaaay under the limit don't work either. We are working on a PSP site proper after the somewhat half-arsed attempt currently in place.

The flash player really is awful. It just lags and eventually crashes with most flashes. (Even homestar runner which is flash 5)
I really hope they manage to get flash 9 support soon.
I'm really annoyed at the savefile exploit being patched too, what harm could anyone do with that? They can't actually edit the game in anyway, just their save. Maybe some people could brick their psp but then that's their fault as they were breaking the warranty. Stupid sony. :(

I fear that if I upgrade, the homebrew scene will eventually get way much better than sonys firmware.

When I try to play anything online on it with flash, it just doesn't respond.

Hmmm...you get better results saving the swf to your PSP and playing it on it's own. Still not exceptional. Although I enjoy saving podcasts and the LocoRoco demo > you tbh.
I can't be arsed to upgrade to 2.7 in all honesty. I've got a mp3 player for podcasts, and haven't heard anything good about the flash player.
What are the demos like? This may sway me...

LocoRoco is awesome. End of story.
