I downloaded the album just to listen to it.
I own all of Muse's previous albums, and I
think they rock, although Showbiz has a couple
of slow tunes that shouldn't have been there.
If you don't own Origin of symmetry, I strongly
recommend it, and order you to go out and
buy it right now:)

Muse.

I'm seeing them, me.

There is a mistake on the case, by the way.

Tracks 7 & 8 are mixed up - Interlude and Hystria are the otherway around.

I normally don't like to float around the prog/alternative area, but Muse are a band that really interest me. I've listened to Absolution round a friends house a few times. It seems a bit more simplistic than the first two, ubt it's still pretty damn good.

Well worth the purchase, I say.

Bleh. Muse isn't quite within hoodie brigade range. Yeah, some of them listen to Muse, but that doesn't drag them down.

Nirvana is hoodie brigade material. I think people are finally beginning to realise jsust how overrated they are.

eeeer are mi review, just coz I'm dead bored.

Muse are very definately the best band ever to walk the planet, and this is very definately the best album ever to be concieved. (see, I'm not biased in any way)

Intro: Err, some stamping feet and a 'Seig Heil', what more can I say? Atmosphere setting

Apocalypse Please: The only way to describe this song is BIG, with Mr. Bellamy's crashing piano and operatic voice decalring "this is the end of the world". Big, beautiful and uplifting. A definate must see live. It's one of those songs that grabs you by the solar plexus and lifts you off your feet.

Time Is Running Out: Man, what can I say? This has to be one of my favourite songs, proving wrong the theoy that nothing good ever gets into the charts. Think it got them a 'Q' award last night too. Once you hear the hefty bass riff, you won't get it out of your head for days. Easily as catchy as Plug In Baby, but much better balanced and more skillful.

Sing For Absolution: This is another very big song (by big, I don't mean long). Combining hauntingly emotional vocals and beautiful piano. One of those ones that will grow on you by the third time you hear it. A really good song.

Stockholm Syndrome: One of the two properly heavy songs on the album. Fast paced, impossible to play on guitar or drums (or at least very fiddly). It's just metal enough to make it very cool, but not too much at all. What gets you about this song is it's energy and speed. This will definately get the crowds moshing.

Falling away with you: One of the softer tracks. Alternative, but in a good way, hypnotic and moving, as well as uplifting. It's not soft all the way through though, but never gets properly heavy either. A song that makes you feel everything will be alright.

Interlude: Oh my god, it's such a shame this isn't part of a song. If they played it live, it would have you in tears. It's not soft or sappy, but it's immensely powerful. The kind of feeling you would get if you stepped into the world's largest cvathedral and looked up. You know what I said about Apocalypse Please lifting you up by the solar plexus? Take that and multiply by 10. You definately need to crank the volume all the way up for this.

Hysteria: A development of their earlier 'I Want You Now', that went down so amazingly well at Reading festival 2002. This song is collossal. The interlude's atmosphere is definately carried through into this. Being a bassist, I naturally love songs with bass riffs (well, the good ones) and this, after Time Is Running Out, or maybe even challenging it, is my favourite song.

Blackout: If Apocalypse Please gives the feeling of the end of the world, Interlude and Hysteria give the feeling of looking out over the infinity of creation for one last time, then Blackout is what you hear after it's all gone. Haunting, slow and melancholic. This is the song you hear when you have accepted that it's all over. The violins almost make it reminiscent of a 50's epic film, but staying very cool and never quite slipping into farce. If any other bad attempted the same thing, they would sound rediculous, but muse make it sound amazing.

Butterflies & Hurricanes: This song is just classic Muse. Cryptic lyrics, stunning vocals, and addictive tunes using wonderful effects. A classic, and one of the best named songs I can think of. Oh, incorporating a bit of Rachmaninov's third on the Piano as the equivalent to a guitar solo.

The Small Print: This is probably one of the the heaviest songs on the album, more so than Stockholm Syndrome. Some classic Rock drumming from Dom, and metal slamming from Matt and Chris, with perfect use of distortion and effects, and very 'Muse' lyrics; "I'm the priest God never paid"

Endlessly: Proof that Muse can pull off any genre, and beat the best with thier style. This is trancy, but the only properly good trance track I have ever heard. Repressed, trebley drumming, a slight delayed muffled harmonic sound on the bass and keyboard. small drums and shakers played backwards just polish this track wonderfully.

Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist: The weakest track on the album, in my opinion. It still has the muse style, and a very nice riff, but takes the place that Hyper Music did on Origin of Symmetry. Just dosen't seem as well planned as the others. Having said this, I still think it's as good as, say the Foo Fighters at their best. No, a bit better, I think (as I'm listening to it now). Just a few bits don't seem to fit, but others are honed to perfection. Ah, it's the chorus that lets it down. That's it.

Ruled By Secrecy: This song is pure brilliance. The piano's harmoic and beautiful arpeggios could bring a tear to your eye, but have just a slight feeling of miscontent, like something is not quite at ease. Matt's voice is truly amazing on this track, bringing images into my mind of the collapse of the Soviet Union "wash the blood off your hands, this time she won't understand", "you're working so hard, but you're never in charge", "change in the air, and they'll hide everywhere. No one knows who's in control". I honestly don't believe there is anyway this song could have been improved. Listening to it again, it has just climbed above TIRO and Hysteria, and taken the place as my favourite song.

Anyway, all of the above summarised in a few words "It good. Buy It"

Oh yeah, and I'm seeing them in Cardiff CIA in December. Yay for me

Yup, I did listen to Nirvana quite a lot, and now I do realise that they are pretty much overrated since I have gotten some other albums, that are much better.

I bought Absolution today, and I'm still listening to it. I absolutely love Stolkholm Syndrome and Time Is Running Out is pretty catchy too. I like Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist as well.
