Zelda Ocarina of Time, in my opinion, the best Zelda game to date. Windwaker was good, but it didn't have the replay value Z64 did.
How many of you found some crazy glitches in Zelda 64 that you just weren't suppose to figure out? I found a few of particular interest. I was curious if there were some others I didn't know about.
This only works on the Gold Cartridge by the way, I found by testing it with my cousin's gray cartridge that the gold catridge runs version 1.0 while the gray runs 1.1....
Get to the boss fight with Gannon, when he knocks the sword out of your hand and you don't have anything equipped in that slot, save and exit.
Restart the game than load your saved file. You'll be in Gannon's tower with the sword equipped. DON'T EQUIP ONE..
Go to the field and get Epona, once you mount her your now able to use most of the C button items while on the horse. This however was not meant to be so you get some fun glitches.
If you pull the ocarina out and then put it back you'll be on the ground running, but controlling the horse as well, and if you play saria's song Link will hover in the air....there are tons of wierd glitches I'll save the post from getting lengthy and let you guys play with that.
The best thing I found was, with that glitch, go to the Gerudo Valley, or the bridge before it, you know, the one that was broken, near the tent with the runner. Get on one side of it and hookshot onto the pole on the opposite end. The hookshot will get stuck, because it can't pull link off the horse. Dismount and you'll be flying....only downside of this glitch is it'll either:
A) Crash the System after awhile
B) You need to turn it off regardless, there is no way to fix it
-end
i remember there being a glitch where navi gets caught in a wall but cant remeber it
i agree that zelda was good
and that wind waker had no playback value (even with the compleation extras)
i had once posted a thread of"best game moments ever"
and nearly every1 said
Oot is the best
this will be one long thread.........

Yes I played Ocarina of Time through quite a while ago. Simply fascinating! The game was one of the best I've ever played.

Master's Quest was soooo difficult, I got it before Windwaker came out, and it had puzzles that were so much harder than windwaker. Link to the Past was good too, I worshipped that game for years but now I'm just on and off with it. Master Quest=High Resolution Good

I loved Ocarina of Time. Though my favorite game of all time still has to be Super Mario RPG.
Hmm.. new thread idea?!
I was hooked on OoT a while back on my pc (emulation! :)), but alas the emulator didn't like the transparent bits in the Shadow Temple, so the lens of truth was useless. So I gave up :'(

OOT was definitely enjoyable, but... I thought A Link to the Past was the best. Not sure why.
Maybe because I don't remember OOT having the real Zelda song. You know.. that one..
Doo doo. Doo doo-doo-doo-doo-doo...
That's not working, is it?

You mean the main Zelda theme tune? I love that (sad, i know). They sort of added some of it in the Hyrule Field though.

I thought the Oracle games were shite...
Theres a major glitch in Links Awakening, the moment you are about to go to another screen, press select and you get transported to the other side of the next screen. This is handy, but you can get stuck in buildings, walls forests etc.

Omg Majora's Mask was amazing and some of the side quests were so sad and sadistic...did anybody get the Lovers Mask or whatever it was called? So...so....depressing and dark...especially for a Zelda game

OOT is the most awe inspiring game I have ever played.
You could get so imersed into that game that you literally thought it was you in Hyrule doing that stuff, there was a real sense of urgency about it.
And how good it felt when I completed the game......
HELL YEAH

OoT was a fun game, but STILL STUCK IN DAMN WATER TEMPLE!!!
*ahem*
Link's Awakening on GB Colour is the only other (and first) Zelda game I've played... I quite enjoyed that too...
But you can't beat the Biggoron's sword!! So big! So fun!

on the gameboy colour? PAH! I had that shit on the original brick gameboy, the only colour was green, and i was in primary school. BUT I DIDN'T CARE. That game ruled my childhood. My friend was so envious when i could complete it and he couldn't. I had to write a letter to the company asking how to get the boss key to level 2 though, bottle grotto.

Jesus christ dont start on Bottle Grotto...it took me about 10 hours to figure out the first section (the bit were you have to light up the fires:o ). I had it for Game Boy Normal as well. I've stopped playing it.

Hahaha!
If you only had it on original GB you didn't get to see the Wind Fish in all his glory... Many colours!
And you didn't get the Colour dungeon ;) Or the special tunic for getting past it.

Link's Awakening was pretty much my first video game. I was 6 or something. I don't know - really little.
I was so upset because I didn't have a sword...

I also have OOT on GC with Master Quest. WindWaker was too easy, and short, but the graphics were quite good. But It will never beat OOT. :nana:

Just because something is in colour doesn't neccesarily mean it is better.
Although I will admit I would quite like to see the final fight in colour, with all the morphing fun.
But whoever it was who mentioned the music is definatly right; the zelda games had some of the best music ever. Even on the game boy it sounded great when you finally got to play all eight instruments in front of the wind fish's egg.
Almost as good as some of the music in the monkey island games.

if you beat the game in his 'yammies' you'll get an alternate ending, I haven't seen it so don't ruin it for me if you've done it...but thats all I heard about it.
I remember when i had the original legend of Zelda on the Nintendo all those years ago.....
then i got "Link to the Past" on the SNES and i was in awe over it, i played it over and over again until i got all 20 hearts (yes, i know, i'm sad)
Then my house got broken into and swiped my SNES, so i got an N64 and got OoT. It was bloody marvellous! Then Majorla's Mask (sp?) dissapointed me a little, but nevertheless, a good game. I can't be bothered to play Windwaker, just looks rubbish to me.
My favourite is Link to the Past, it was just so great and i have it on my Game Boy Advance \o/ (Still great)

The SNES game was better IMO, but my second favorite is OOT.
I just liked slashing the chickens and figuring out the patterns in the shop games. :D

OoT was awesome, brilliant.
I have the gray cartridge, however, so I can't really mess around with glitches. Drat.
I got up to the Shadow Temple in Master Quest, but I think my game's glitchy. I was doing exactly was I was supposed to be doing (I checked a couple of guides, I WAS! I SWEAR!) and it wasn't working.... -_- drat.
Windwaker was incredibly easy. It doesn't have much replay value, I have to agree. Though trying to find all the little tidbits is entertaining. I beat it in 3, 4 weeks, only because I felt like exploring more than going into the temples and beating up the bosses. Which were RIDICULOUSLY easy, it took me two hours max to do each one.

I got the music disc from the Nintendo magazine also. My friend was in the last issue by the way, he got the high score on SSBM(Howard is his name).
Anyway, I liked WW cos I liked all the xploring and stuff and there was a lot of that in WW, more so than OOT. And I liked the two dungeons with two characters, that really brought a new element to it all. And I liked decorating the town in flowers, that really cheered up all those Nintendo people! :nana:

The gold one's the original, I belive. The gray cartridge is a later edition with all the glitches fixed.
Pretty much, you can do everything described above. ^^

Zeldas rule cept the windwaker that was lame because ninty changed the target audience to increase sales and in doing so changed the longevity and difficulty the only original feature in it that didn't get tedious was the sword play

Yeah OOT has some of my favourite game music ever.
I dunno, I really enjoyed Wind Waker, and after completing it, I tried to get into playing OOT on the bonus disk, and I just couldn't due to the inferior controls and frame rate.
But I guess overall, OOT was better.

OOT was amazing. I loved the forest temple music. Gameplay was superb, too.
Also, if you want a glitch: go to the zora's fountain as an adult so it will be frozen and go up to the king's altar. I'm not sure if you're supposed to use the regular or hover boots, but walk off the edge and Link will do some weird slipping.

I loved the forest temple music.
Me too!
And also Epona's Song, particularly when that girl was singing it in the horses fields (I forget her name).
And also the music that played every time Shiek appeared.
Meh, all of it.
