MAP COMING SOON

The battle for control of the Weebls-Stuff Forums begins!

The battle will rage through each map territory with the attacking teams competing for a chance to challenge the defenders for control of that territory.

Only one territory will be active at anyone time and will stay open for 2 weeks. During this time the defending team will issue challenges. Each of the attacking teams will compete in these challenges and the first team to clock up 3 wins takes on the defending team in a final battle to the death! If no one gets 3 wins the defenders have successfully defended the territory.

Challenges

These will be run by the defending team. Before the war begins each team must think up at least 10 challenges that they can run during the game. These will be approved by the game moderators.

Challenge Types

Your team will be responsible for setting up and maintaining your challenges. If you need an impartial judge you may request one from the game moderators. Here are some ideas for types of challenges. You may have any number of each type to make up your 10 (please don’t make it all quizzes!).

Quiz

The defending team can set quiz questions for the attackers. The defending team will make the questions relevant to their home forum. When proposing a quiz you will decide how many questions it will have and how the attackers will play.

The attackers could each nominate someone to answer and some one from each team answers each question with points for correct answers. Or it could be open with first correct answer scores.

Specialist

A challenge specialist to the defenders. Debates may want to have some debates actually take place and be judged. Art may have a drawing competition. This is really up to you to come up with some good stuff here.

Word Games/Puzzles

An example is the game where you take the names of 2 actors and have to link them via other actors they have performed with.

Example:

Kevin Spacey to Jeremy Irons

Kevin Spacey was in “American Beauty” with Thora Birch who was in “Dungeons and Dragons” with Jeremy Irons.

The winner could be the team that does it in the least links.

Final Challenge

You must also think up a final challenge that you can go head to head with an attacking team on. This will decide the outcome of your forum so think hard! Again if you need an independent judge just ask the game mods.

What next?

Soon it will be time for you to get organized in your teams. You must design a small team logo or flag. You can display this somewhere in your sig if you like. You must then come up with your challenges and submit them to me via PM/email. If you would like to elect a team leader then you can go ahead and do that.

The games will begin once we have challenges ready for the first battle. I will be looking for a team to volunteer to defend first.

Don't get started just get but be ready to go when I tell you!

Quick question, how are you deciding the game moderators? Are they going to be some of the forum mods or random forumites you choose?

Also, are the sections where we organise ourselves going to be locked somehow so that only the teams can get in?

We don't want our battle plans revealed. :P

Very good point. Perhaps even a chat where only the members know the channel name, but that could be compromised fairly easily and not everyone is on at the same time, especially considering some of us live across the ocean. :)

I am very much aiming for secret places for you. It will most probably be an offsite board. More later. I'm off to the zoo.

All these have been discussed and you will know in due time the main rules of engagement.Quick question, how are you deciding the game moderators? Are they going to be some of the forum mods or random forumites you choose?Forumites involved in the playing of the game cannot become admins for the Forum War. Neutrals are to be picked. Also, are the sections where we organise ourselves going to be locked somehow so that only the teams can get in?

We don't want our battle plans revealed. :PSpoo is working on methods to keep people from accessing other teams threads.

I'm sorry AngryPaul, are you a game moderator or something? I could've sworn you were a participant...

Anyway, I know the IRC thing is a bad idea. That's why I talked about people not being on at the same time and that a forum in which to organize ourselves would be best.

bs, I think he mentioned somewhere that each battle thing will last 2 weeks, so the whole thing's going to be a lot longer, you'll just miss about one. :)

I'm sorry AngryPaul, are you a game moderator or something? I could've sworn you were a participant...I'm no mod. I've been involved in the planning from the start, and then paying attention to the planning where I wasn't involved to bring you the answers. :)

So it's a bit like Risk, but without the dice?

I'm not affiliated with any subfora here, so I'll maintain a status of 'disinterested onlooker'.
