The Fire’s In Our Eyes
Verse 1
I look in your eyes and I can see the fear
As the silence is ruptured by a tremendous noise
It’s the crowd baying for glory and prize
As they holler the names of all their boys
They want to see us slay the opposition
If we don’t get a result they’ll go for our necks
It’s funny how quickly the winds can change
One minute we’re heroes, the enemy the next
But if we go out, it’ll be together
From that dressing room we draw a breath
We’re in head first, no pulling out
We’ve got to fight, no option left
Chorus
I will stand by him and he will stand by I
He’s not just my teammate he’s my alibi
We will play together through thick and thin
Even if we lose, I always win
Because I’ve got a friend to pick me up
Together as one we shall lift that cup
And even if it all goes wrong
I know that we will stand up strong
Verse 2
Our voices ring load across the stand
The national anthem rekindles our pride
The whistle echoes as an eruption occurs
Each in the crowd cries for their own side
One nation united on the edge of their seats
So much commotion over one little ball
Even if we’re up against the odds
Our heads, they shall not fall
We’ll expand every ounce that we’ve got
The game may fall into more than two parts
Unbearable suspense for a single spot
As we listen to the sound of our pounding hearts
Chorus
Verse 3
Into the coffin goes the final nail
Our fates are sealed with a rippling net
We tried so hard yet still we fall
We deserve much more than we get
As one dream is shattered, another is made
And we look ahead to the next time we fight
We’ll stand before our crowd once again
We’re their heroes dressed in white
And I’ll still play by your sides
The faces change but the spirit remains
No matter who walks into that dressing room
They’ll still be up for the game
Chorus
Outro
The glory, the prize
The fire’s in our eyes
The glory, the prize
The fire’s in our eyes
(continue till fade out)

Field of Dreams
Hopes and dreams
Theatrical screams
Falling fast
'Cause you couldn't get past
On the field
Of your dreams
Oh on the field
Of your dreams
A retired man
With his head in his hands
He may have needed a rest
But not on someone else's chest
On the field
Of your dreams
Oh on the field
Of your dreams
But it all comes together
To justify the millions of pounds
And all the ink sets to paper
To justify the million paper rounds
A monochrome glint
And a twinkle in the eye
It is all over now
But that memory never dies
On the field
Of your dreams
Oh on the field
Of your dreams
But it all comes together...
Tomorrow we care
Today we watch
Tomorrow we care
Today we fight
But it all comes together...
But it all crashes together
To justify the millions of wounds
And it'll go on forever
Until they think it's all over too soon
