Whisper down the Alley is a game in which a lot of people stand in a line. The first person says something to the person on his or her right, and they repeat what they thought they heard to the person on their right, and so on. Then, at the end, the last person in line tells what they heard to the first person. The first person then announces what the original message was and what the final message was. Usually the message is garbled strangely by the end. So, I have invented a way to play this game on the forums, and I will now state the rules:
Click the link in this post to listen to a sound clip.
ONLY LISTEN TO IT ONCE!
Using a microphone, (have one handy), record a sound clip of you saying whatever you heard me say.
WRITING THE MESSAGE DOWN IS CHEATING.
Host this sound clip somewhere (it doesn't have to be streaming, just have the file available for download), then post a link to the file in a reply.
If you are not the first person to reply to a post, please delete your post.
After someone posts a reply, I will edit my post to get rid of the link (and the original file, so don't even think of bookmarking it).
Someone will then reply to this person's post with a sound bit of them saying what they thought they heard that person say in their post.
Then the person who’s post was replied to should delete their post. This ensures that no one will listen to older versions of the message and cheat.
Please DELETE your posts. Editing them is frowned upon as it clutters up the thread. There should only ever be two posts in this thread, this post and the most recent post with the message in it.
A mod's help would be nice if someone forgets to delete thier post.
After a long amount of time, I will edit this post to say that the game is done. Whoever posted the last sound file, keep your post up. DO NOT DELETE IT. I will then edit this post to include the original sound clip, so they can be compared.
The thread should then be locked.
The first audio file may not contain my actual voice.
However YOUR posts must be your real voice.
Unfair, isn't it?
IF YOU:
Save a copy of the original message, either on your own computer or somewhere on the internet
Write down the message
Listen to any version of the message except the most recent
Change it deliberately (if you hear the person say "fishstick bread" and you say "tickle me elmo" for example). Note: I can assure you, that's not what the message will be.
THEN YOU HAVE CHEATED!
PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT!
Do not put hints about what the original message said in any of your posts, even with spoiler tags. Also, don't put what the message said in your sig. That would ruin it for all of us.
Okay, get it? Remember that it may not be my real voice, and I would like a mod’s help (to delete posts when people forget to delete them, etc.
I might not be able to delete the link in this post for a bit as I have bed and school and such things. Just don't click it after someone replies. Don't be a cheater. Remember, there should only ever be two posts in this thread. Please do not bog this thread down with "oh this game is fun" or "this is dumb" sort of posts. PM me instead please.
