ZOIDBERG
06-10-2006, 08:40 PM
This could go on for a while, and hopefully it will.
Every day I will post a challenge for you, along with a certain amount of points it is worth. You will have a week to complete it, so seven challenges will be running at any one time. The first three to complete it will get more (2x, 1.5x, 1.2x) points than everyone else, and an unlimited amount may win. You can join in the game at any time :)
The first challenge:
Score 5000 points on this game:
http://www.mindistortion.net/games/infect
This will be worth 50 points (1st place gets 100, second 75 and 3rd 60) and will of course end exactly a week from now. Get screenshots, post here when you're done!
Current completions: 8 (Shru, stalefish, Urlosenged, Sebas, Bacon Machine, Furnie, Smartie, 3v1l |\/|1NiOn)

This month's scores are in brackets. These scores are now only affected by challenges (i.e. not by codes or doubling). Each player will score 50 points for each person who is ranked above him/her at the start of the month that he/she can score more points than during the month. The 3 players who score the most during the month will earn 2,000, 1,500 and 1,200 points respectively.

GAME CHANGES
7th Oct: Reach the top at any time to get the golden "1" rosette next to your name on the board.
8th Oct (after challenge set): Post the word "double" at any time to risk your points. Complete the next two challenges posted after you post the word "double" to double your points (you do not score the regular points for completing them); if you do not complete both, your points will be cut in half.
5th Nov: Stickied :)
7th Nov: Solutions list (above) added
23rd Nov: Post #1 reaches 10 THOUSAND characters so it carries onto here.
2nd Jan: The entire first post gets moved here.
4th Jan: Complete 5 challenges in a row to add 1% extra to your points at the end of each week. This can be done more than once, including having 1% added twice if you complete 6 in a row. Interst is reduced each week by 1% to ensure it does not go out of control.
4th Feb: As a result of the poll, interest has been scrapped, the double is no longer available to the top 3, and codes have been added (see below)
1st March: All players now also have a monthly score, which is reset on the first of the month and is shown in brackets on the scoreboard. It only takes into account points earned from challenges (which includes those completed during a double) and can include challenges set (but still running) before the month began. Any player who scores more points than another player, who started the month with fewer points than them, will earn 50 bonus points at the end of the month. The top three points scorers in a month will also earn 2,000, 1,500 and 1,200 bonus points respectively at the end of the month.
15th October: Solutions to old challenges to now be posted under where the old challenge was posted, i.e. below it in the same post.
CODES!
Codes are 8 characters long, made of 4 letters (A-Z only, no !"£$%^&*() etc.) and numbers in any order. They are worth 20-100 points, and will be posted by me around the forums and kept there. To score, send me a message with a code in. They are not affected by the double, and the first 3 to find them do not get bonus points.
There are currently 38 codes posted, with a total value of 2,202 points (Last added: 30th September).
CODE LEADERBOARD
1. sursmiley: 1,126 (19 codes)

OTHER
Two challenges to be posted everyday until Friday due to total chaos during the past week or so! If you need to contact me but the PMs aren't working or my inbox is full then you might want to use MSN. My address is zoidb@hotmail.co.uk.
Random fact: The game has slowed down by about 15% this month judging by how many points have been scored in October and September.
See the entire full post (around 20,000 characters by now, so that's why it's no longer on this page) here (freewebs.com/zoidb/dcg).
Unsure? Something need changing? PM me. (http://forum.weebls-stuff.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=24235)
Have fun :)

TODAY'S CHALLENGE:
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5722/villa6za4.png (http://imageshack.us)
See those people? They play for Aston Villa, and are in some kind of order. (Top row from left to right, then bottom from left to right.) I would like you to figure out this order and explain it to me through PM. In the PM I would also like you to add pictures of another six footballers in the same way I have, and ordering them in the same way. With names please so I can check it's right. 60 points, and the first 3 score 120, 90 and 72.
Completions: 2 (Smartie, 3v1l |\/|1NiOn)
Good luck. I may have made this a little hard.
Solution: In order of birthday - the first was Steven Davis, who was born on the 1st of January.

I am introducing a new rule to make this more interesting:
From now on, you may post the word "Double" at any time. Post this and the following will happen:
If you can complete the next two challenges posted, your points total will double. (You will not recieve the points for doing the challenges.)
If you fail one or both of the next two posted, your points are cut in half.
Could make this unpredictable, which is why I have introduced it.
Furnie
08-10-2006, 07:00 PM
For challange 2 do we have to be up to the modern day understanding of elements or can we pretend we're in the middle ages? Fire - Rife
Or perhaps we can swap two identical letters around so Copper becomes Copper* Worth a try. :)
Oh well, I'm not giving up. I'll get one one of these days.

Next challenge!

Actually, doubling would have been bad. You would have gone from 70 to 140. I planned it so the double would not always be a good thing :ninja: Seriously, I DID.

From the wording of the rules, you implied that we could infact add more mines to increase the possibility of getting a 7. Here's 200 mines with a 7 at the top on the right.

English words with no double/triple whatever tiles added. JUST THE WORD!
No more than 15 letters else it's too long to fit on my imaginary board.

Fill in the boxes. Each row must contain a different word. Once you put in the first word, follow the instructions for what to do with the letters. For example, with the first word you need to switch the 1st and 2nd letters, and then once you have that word you need to change the 2nd letter. The key:
S=Switch, C=Change, I=Insert (a letter between 2 I letters), A=Adjacent (change letter to adjacent one in the alphabet, so B to a or C, C to B or D, etc.), V=Vowel (Change to another vowel), R=Remove, P=Pair (Make two letters the same, but only change one), M=Multiply (Put another of these letters elsewhere in the word too).

You start with a three-letter word in this case, then follow the instructions on what to do with it. The first line, for example, means to swap the first two letters. So if your word was THE, you would change it to HTE. Since this is not a word, you would need to try again, but with a different starting word.

This was fun to do. I've taken two songs (same album and artist) and translated them like so: English > French > Spanish > French > English. The translator gave me them (or the first 500 characters of them?) back like this:
SONG 1
Good days, I waited for it, [song title] here
This afternoon, I throw myself in and red,
Of the head she sang
Having taken down and them decline with me, down with me
Slow how, you wanted you to be had been,
I am in my head, of the head which she sang
And I wonder when I sing with you
If everything could never smell it real forever
If any thing could never be this good once again
The only thing I shall never ask you
You owe
SONG 2
What it gluing together make us with innocence
It disappeared in due time, he has never had a lot of senses
A teenager resident
Fact to waste another night in a planning of my revenge
Every tenth (a), every tenth (a)
Please, be his triscador of monkey
Another improper accident
I would leave it from whom I would suffer
I shall never be his triscador of monkey
During all this time correct itself
What you make it makes when all his enemies are quelqu
I want you to PM me now with one of the following: the artist, the song(s) or the album they came from.

Fairly well known. Like I said, the band name gets 5 million results on Google. Also, the songs have both been released as singles.
As for the graph, here is the answer:
Go out onto the main forum index. You will see a list of forums, starting at FAQs, then Bannage, all the way down to Sports and Bets. Put your mouse over one of the forums and you will see the url for it will look like this:
http://forum.weebls-stuff.com/forumdisplay.php?f=(number)
If you do this for all of them, you will see the numbers from top to bottom go like this:
13, 45, 25, 7, 34, 8, 33, 46, 18, 22, 56, 16, 32,19, 20,30, 21, 31, 37.
I put these numbers onto a graph, and it came out like that. The "high point" is Forum Games Forum (where we are now!) at 56.
Anyway, 120 to you for Invader 360, well done :)

Vercci, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to use more than one card for each leg or platform!
That's not how one builds a house of cards!
(I'll never be able to do this though. I will try when I get home later though.)
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_cards
Also, I know i'll not be able to get the lyrics one, so I'll state that right now!

Here are 26 pictures, each of which represents a letter. I want the letters in the order they are in there, like this:
ABCDEFG
HIJKLMN
OPQRSTU
VWXYZ
...but of course in the right order. The initials you need to find out for these things are:
[top row] The missing letter, the country, what that is, the character this man is famous for, which flag that is, the album that is from (first letter), what the label on the big orange bit originally was.
[2nd row]Which ride that is, which flag that is, what replaces the black rectangle, the band, the show, the "proper" name, the species.
[3rd row] The band, the species, the element, the country, the sport, the name of the blue outline, his (?) name.
The type of camel, his first initial, its name, and the last two are self-explanitary.
Ignore the 2 corners, it's just that 26 is an awkward number and 28 isn't.
Get all the letter for each one and I'll be impressed. So much so that this is for [b]100 (200/150/120 to first 3) points for this. Good luck!

TUVWX
and may wonder which is Y and which is Z. If you doubt you'll ever work out which is which, you could always guess - that the guy is Y and the element is Z, or the other way round - but if you got it wrong you'd not be able to have another guess at it. Just something I wondered really, because you may never be able to work out which is which.

TODAY'S CHALLENGE!
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8004/cuberu4.png (http://imageshack.us)
This is a 3x3x3 cube. It is hollow and so is made of 26 smaller cubes. I have assigned a letter to each of these, and your challenge is to work out which is which. I have given you clues, which I will now explain to you:
"Above" and "Below" are pretty obviously about height. For example, the yellow cube is above the orange, above the pink, above the blue, etc. Note that it is above these cubes regardless of anything but vertical height.
"To the left of" and "To the right of" are self-explanitary. The red is to left of the pink, the black, the green, the purple, the gray etc. Note that it can still just be "to the left of" these things even if it is also below them or above them.
"In front of" and "Behind" are from our view. The yellow, green, blue, cyan (light blue) and orange are in front of the grey, black, red, purple and pink.
"Layers" refer to the 3 groups - which are 3x3 squares - that can be classed as "front", "middle" and "back". The "front" layer contains the yellow, green, blue, cyan and orange; the "middle" layer contains the purple and grey; and the "back" layer contains the red, pink and black.
There are 3 "Columns" which work in the same way, but with horizontal position: "left" (containing the red, orange and yellow), "middle" (containing only the grey as well as normal cubes) and "right" (containing the blue, green, cyan, pink, black and purple on the diagram).
There are also 3 "Rows" which are 3x3 squares and are based on vertical position. They are the "top" (the grey, red, yellow, green and black are all on this), the "middle" (containing the blue and purple), and the "bottom" (containing the orange, cyan and pink).
If a letter is DIRECTLY above/below/to the left of/to the right of/in front of/behind, it is only differently placed in this way. For example, the blue and cyan are both directly below the green as they are all on the same column and layer, but on different rows. However, the orange is not directly below the green as it is also to the left of it.
"Opposite corner" refers to the entire cube.
Other explanations can be added on request. Here are your clues:
A is not behind, below or to the left of Z
B is in-between A and N, and V and O
C is directly in front of X
D is between W and Y
E is directly behind Z
F is on the opposite side of the hole in the middle to S
G is in the same place in relation to Q as F is to M
H is on the same row and column as R or T
I is not on the same row, column or layer as X or A
J is directly below A, and not behind, below or to the left of Z
K is between A and L
L is in the opposite corner to W
M is on the same layer as I and C; it is also on the same row as one and on the same column as the other
N is directly to the left of V
O is directly above D
P is adjacent to the hole in the middle (i.e. touching it but not diagonally)
Q is in the opposite corner to A
R is not behind I
S is directly above one vowel and directly behind another
T is not on the same row, column or layer as O
U is on the same row and layer as two other vowels
V is directly above X
W is on the same row and column as Q and M
X is not on the same row, column or layer as A or I; it is on the middle column
Y is directly in front of F and G
Z is on the front layer, directly in the middle (sorry)
I told you it was one of my specials :p
130 points (260/195/156 to first 3) for doing this. Get your answers to me by PM in any way that makes sense. Good luck everyone!
Away you go.

Question, by opposite corner, do you mean of the entire cube or of the layer/row/column?

Of the entire cube, e.g. black and orange.

Woah, that looks like it'd take a while. I think I'll need specialist tools (such as pen and paper) for this one.

If you go way back to post 138 you'll see a lyrics translation challenge. Here's a second!
The same rules apply; I took the lyrics from two songs of the same album, translated them to French to Spanish to French and back to English, and was left with these messes:
Song 1 (note: these are both first 500 characters only)
WHY THEY MAKE THEY ALWAYS SEND TO THE POOR PEOPLE!
Barbarism by Barbarians
With the pointed heels.
Victorious, wins kneel.
For mark new spankin ' subjects.
Fact to edge forward hypocritic
And hypnotic computers.
You depend on our protection,
However you nourish us the lies of the tablecloth.
The exit of them all in the party has the very good time.
Dance in the desert which exaggerates the sun.
Fact of agen
Song 2
The soft berries prepared for two ghosts do not differ that you.
Supporting ghosts wait for it.
They are him...
The soft berries prepared for two ghosts do not differ that you.
Supporting ghosts wait for it.
They are him...
A dreamer! By dreaming on night! A dreamer consentementde suit!
Make attained! Do we know, when WE FLY?
When we, when we go
Do we die?
The soft berries prepared for two ghosts do not differ
50 points (100/75/60 to first 3) for sending me either the album, artist, or either or both of the song titles by PM. Good luck 0_o
