theres a weird painting in the japanese restaurant at the top of the hilton on park lane. i think it was a big landscape, a veranda with a sunset behind it or something. it looks like there are bits sticking out of it up until you are about an inch away, then you realise its flat.

very strange. especially when the waiter tells you to get up & look after a bottle of wine.

Look at the center of the image for about 30 seconds. Then quickly shift your gaze to somewhere with a white background. You should see an afterimage of the US flag with the correct colors! This happens because your eye reverses the colors in afterimages.

Copy the picture into paint, use the eye dropper to take the colour from anywhere in the gradient rectangle bit, now get the paint brush and draw a line between square “A” and “B”, you will see they are the same colour

They arent at all, that line is a gradient. Whats it supposed to show?

Wrong, Simon. Try using an eyedropper tool to check the colour. They're the same.

In the 'upside-down' image, the beak is now the boat, the bird's head is the whale, its body is the island and its legs are trees

I don't think the body looks much like an island and I don't think the legs look very much like trees. I can see how you would come to think that, and its probably what you are meant to think, I just don't think its very effective. But that's just me.

The head being a whale and the beak being a boat work very well, though.

To anyone who can't see the same colour on the checkerboard one, just put your hands in front of the rest of the picture - so you can only see those two squares.

I didn't believe it until I did that, when I first saw it. Then it seemed obvious.

I will make one for halloween, and it will come out pink and purple because i'm out of yellow ink.

I made one (came out blue as it should), but it only works if you close one eye and it has to be above you. If it worked well with opening both eyes, I would put it on the shelf right above my monitor. But it doesn't, so my paper Pineapple Clock will get that spot (if I can ever get it out; it fell behind and the only way I can think of to get it out is to use the vaccum hose to suck it up, that that will smoosh it).
