we'll, it's comedic. I need something to build plots on. Something for characters to do, somewhere for them to go.
I'd decide the storys when i know the characters.
Something silly.

No offence, but how would you make a flash animation without story, characters, plot or anything? You're basically asking us to think stuff up for you so you don't need to be creative yourself.

You haven't really thought this through, have you? You have no characters, no plots, no imagination, and no talent with the program.

we all have to start somewhere. it's easy to say that looking in but I am rather hungry. that could be a factor.
I can't have much without characters. althpugh i have some plots.

we all have to start somewhere.
This is true, but still, I'd think it over a bit before you begin, instead of plunging headfirst into this.

First you need a story. Then you need to make character bios, information about them. Then research your story, character interactions. Then you need a script. you then need vocal actors, and extreme skills in a high quality animation program. All you're trying to do is to make a weebl and bob style cartoon, and trying to get all the fame and money with no effort. Trust me, I've thought it out before. Its a waste of time unless you have the skills and the patience to go through with it. Oh and characters obsessed with cream cakes? You ae just making weebl and bob, but in a different shape, a far lower quality animation and audio, and just an obbsession with cream cakes and not pies.

My advice is not to listen to that TOMKA RULZ guy. And I would also like to reinforce the point that you should come up with your own damn ideas and not ask other people to think of them for you.
I don't think you can want to do a Flash animation then try and come up with characters and stuff. Personally, I would have to have the characters first, then a story would probably come from the characters, then you can start animating.

I don't even see why you got flash if you didn't have any ideas, unless you want to make some advert banners.

Trust me, to make something truely funny you'l spend ages on it and by the time its finished you wont enjoy it. Others will, but you wont as you spent so long perfecting it and getting stressed.

How's about a story about a guy, who goes by the name MijetMan, who wants to become a worlds famous flash animator, but everyone laughs at him until he makes a masterpeice which was actually made by a result of his dog messing about with the keyboard and mouse, and then he becomes rich and nukes everyone who laughed at him?
Hey, that's actually a pretty cool plot.

Guys, enough of the flaming, okay? Sure, the topic starter didn't think this through as much as he might have, but that's no reason to slag him like this. Some proper advice has been given, now let's keep it like that, and let's not turn the thread into a flamefest.

I was just about to say go easy on him, but then I saw your last post. Dude, you're looking at the hard part here but the best thing to do is to get to know Flash a bit. Start drawing and eventually you'll come up with a shape you like that can be made into a character.

So you want to create a character?
Well there are 10 types of character, though most can be put into several groups. Arguably all could be put into the first group,
Fatal Flaw - Hamlet
The Romantic - Romeo
Unrecognised Virtue - Cinderella
The Debt that must be Repaid - Angel Heart
Spider and Fly - Tom and Leo in Catch Me If You Can
The Gift Taken Away - Revan in Knights of the Old Republic
The Quest - Frodo
The Rites of Passage - (Bel)Garion
The Wanderer - Thelma and Louise
The Character who cannot be put down - THE ROCK
You need to think of External Characteristics
Sex
Age
Physical
Mannerisms
Verbal Expressions
Appearance
Intrests
and Internal Characteristics
Intelligence
Extrovert/introvert
Likes/dislikes, contradictions, attitudes
Self-image/self-delusion
Sexuality, charisma
Defining Characteristics - e.g. big-hearted, mild-mannered, etc.
points of view
anyway, thats all that i can remember from 1st year Uni. Hope it helps you out.
