I turned off my PC without shutting it down (foolish, I know). I took out a PCI TV card (that doesn't work), and turned the pc back on a few hours later. Now when I try and log into Windows, it'll come up with the login screen, I can log in, but then the computer will completely freeze and my speakers will start making a weird sound. I can log into safe mode just fine, and I tried doing a system restore but it didn't work. Can anyone help a fool in need?

Try a Windows repair install, god knows what you've done but that'll likely sort it.

Tried a chkdsk?

The TV card is on the other side of town :-( So's my Windows install disk! I'm gonna try just installing Kubuntu for now, I'm fine with that at least temporarily. Thanks anyway guys!

Yeah, it really sounds like a driver problem. Try going in in safe mode and disabling things in device manager (try the sound card first as pc ur is screechin). Althou, it might not be.
