I recently bought battlefield 2 deluxe edition as I just upgraded my graphics card from a lowly sapphire X1300 to a mighty foxconn 7950 gt :D

Now when I first installed the card, the game wouldn't run, so I updated the drivers and it ran very nicely at 60fps in 1280x1024 res.
However, when I went to play on the net, it came up with a message saying "access denied, cd key invalid" or something to that effect.

I was told by a friend that there was an issue with a gang creating copies of battlefield 2 that look legit and so my cd key may already be in use.

Is there anything I can do to rectify this in the registry? I had a look around some techy forums and it looked like it can be done but all of their instructions were for the original battlefield 2, not the deluxe edition.

Further more, my pc seems reluctant to play it at all now for some reason. The problem started after I also bought counterstrike: source the other day. It worked fine for the first few plays but then, whenever I tryed to search for servers it just froze my pc, making me press the restart button. (it wouldn't do ctrl, alt and del).

So far I've had no luck at all. Is a reinstall in order for css? And what do I do about battlefield 2?

Email EA Customer Support. Whilst hell may freeze over before they get back to you, it shows you're doing things the official way. Plus they may eventually get things sorted.

Anything else I think of tends to end up at the option of ILLEGALZ, which is no.

Where did you buy it from? As long as it was a real shop, and you've got proof of purchase you'll be fine. If it's "dodgy" then you deserve all you get.

Email EA Customer Support.
*cringes*
arghh, i never ever want to contact them again, im sick of the fact that every time you use their system you contact a different person upon replying, who never reads anything else you've said. So the entire support process goes in a full loop unless it can be fixed with 1 email. then they fail to acknowledge game bugs and blame viruses and low specs, when the problem is common on fan forums. i just gave up.
Same for symantec too.

I suggest taking it back to PC World and asking for another copy. They may say no as its CD Key software but if you explain that is the whole reason for giving it back you should be ok. Currently as the CD Key does not work the product is not "fit for purpose" and they legally have the replace it.

I've never had any bad experience with EA's customer support (they managed to fix my problem in a couple of e-mails actually) so I don't see the problem with e-mailing them and waiting a couple of days to get it fixed. :)

What expansion packs are included in the bundle? Becuase With everything past S.F, its one CD key per account. Is there more than one account on your PC? (This is also the same for 2142. EA=greedy bastards.)
