NtL fucked me over again.
Last night it just decided to drop, and ive spent the last 5 hours talking to some twat about how to reset a set top box.
I finally get it working on a wired connection thinking it's all hunk dory and I go upstairs to check if it works on my wireless connection.
No. It tells me it aint doin nothin.
So I check the connectivity on the wireless biotch and it tells me that it's connected to the router but it can't find the internet. Bullshite I tell ye, it's all there!

I then tried to connect to the local IP address (192.168.11.1 (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8569/dsaasdsr6.jpg) fyi) for the shit ole router, and whoopedy doo! The firmware has dissaperated.

I've also lost the disk for said firmware.

Buffalo tells me that this (http://www.buffalotech.com/downloads/WYR_Firmware.zip) is the firmware.
How do I open it? That is my question :)

p.s. any other info about the other shite I wrote would be helpful too, Iam a right nabber :(

The first dissapointed Buffalo user I have heard of.

Should just download it and install if its picking up the router. If not you may need to run a Network cable from your computer to the router to reinstall the firmware.

Out of interest here, but how do you reload firmware when theres no firmware on the device to receive the firmware and load it on?

if you've reset it any changes you've made will disappear

so remove any WEP keys etc. and make sure 192.168.11.1 is the default IP addr
some likely alternatives include 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1

Some routers have a tool available that allows you to restore curropt firmware. In know mine does (but it ain't a buffy). It would be best to phone them again and see how they get round this problem. I bet there was some kind of tool on the cd for it.

I don't have access to any of those tools Flipcaveman as I don't have the CD that came with the router.
The website also has nout on it :(
I honestly think I'm stuck unless I find that CD but I hear buffalo give replacement ones at a high price.

Problem solved, disk found, hooray for hard work and effort.

Can you not try making a direct connection to your router? Presumebly you should be able to transfer this firmware that way.
