I need help. I have bought a theremin a couple of months ago. If you're not sure what it is, I suggest looking up bill bailey and theremin up on youtube. But it has a higher voltage input than a guitar, and I want to use it on my amp without problems. It has the same voltage as a keyboard, so is it possible to use a DI box so it doesn't blow my amp?

And how do I go about this? I don't know much about this area.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.

You're being over cautious, just whack it in the amp. I've run keyboards through guitar amps loads of times. It's fine. Audio signals hold little power in the first place anyway, well, before they've gotten to an amplifier.

It's fine on a low power, but I'm planning to amplify it to fill a venue for 800 people, it won't be great if the sound messes up as it isn't balanced. Or worse it ruins my amplifier.

run it through a practice amp, use the effects send or the emulated line out (for a marshall), or the real line out on some amps into a more powerfull amps main in or possibly effect return on some amps.

Make sure the output gain on the theremin is down as low as possible. Plug it in, turn it up till it starts to distort then turn it down a bit. Done... =] You won't hurt the amp unless you crank the gain up on the amp.

Yeah, just thinking about this recently, if you may wind up getting a bit of overdrive in the wrong situation.

Tell me is the theremin active or passive.
