Below is the colour pallet for the only colours allowed when you make your avatar

you can use the source images from my site here (http://fopg.cheesefarm.co.uk/)

and below is a PSP tutorial i found and changed a bit

you make separate layers where you add different stuff
then you put a background layer with the background color into the avatar
when you're done editing you use the crop tool to pick out the stuff you need
after this you merge all layers into one layer
then you rezise and canvas size until pic is 80pxls wide and 60pxls tall
then you decrease coulour depth to 256 colours
then you set transparency
then you save as gif
then you attach or upload to web

dont post jam avatars in here, keep them in the jam thread

i know this will upset quite a few of you that only have paint but it will increase the quality of the avatars being made.

you can use it if you are trying to illustrate how you want an avatar made but not to make them.

also i don't want to see lots of avatars being made from the toons, instead i want to see original ideas.

Caterpillar: I like the idea, add a cloke to that and that'd look pretty cool.

Tofufi: The white wings look quite nice indeed, however the halo doesn't stand out enough anymore and the lines of the wings are a little messy in places. It's still a good avatar though.

if you use ps, use tutorial provided, if you use flash, it as some check boxes when you export it, and if you use paint, you can't.

I believe (dont kill me if im wrong) that the magic wand tool will remove areas selected if you press delete - do this to the bit you want transparent and transparency will occur ( i think) (you need to have it on transparentbackground when you make a new file)

on flash you can change how transparenmt something is. such as on that, i had it decrease by 10% each time, then increase at the same rate. basically, it's a handy little variable called alpha. 0% is fully transpatent, i'e., you can't see it, and 100% s just normal.
I made this as well. it's stupid. I will make one with a jam and weebl over each other or whatever.

another resize of the elephant

when resizing images, first use normal resize to make the avatar fit into a 80*60 frame, it's not neccesary to make it exactly 80*60, just make sure none of the sides are any longer.

Do not use pixel resize, it screws up the quality... use smart resize or whatever it's called in the program you use...

after this use canvas size to make the avatar 80*60 pixels...

Actualy, you can make it transperent in paint, as long as you can save it as a gif

but paint can't save stuff as gif's! well you can say you can, but paint mucks up the pic, therefore rendering it useless!

but you could copy the bitmap to the clipboard, save it to gif, paste the bitmap over it, and re-save the gif. That leaves it the same, then you can make it transparent.

So how do you do tat with only paint..... you'd have to have another program to do that, and if you did, why would you be using paint :confused:





....I have a better idea though ;) .. go to PC world or someother such like store. Find the CD-R section, and look for the 'Imatation' brand of 50 CD-R's in! For there is/has been, an offer on where you get PSP7 FREE with it. and the packs only about £15-£20, so why not do that!!!! ????
