It's that time of year again folks...
Have you kept your New Year resolutions from 2006?
Are you making new ones for 2007?
I actually have kept mine from last year, one was the old "lose weight" one, however that were helped by getting taller, and only gave the appearance I lost it.
This year, I'm going to...
Eat Healthier (not lose weight, just eat less crap).
Be less of a sarcastic bastard.
Go to bed earlier.
Use the computer less often, however I want to...
...Be a better forumite.
Bloody do my homework ffs!
Be nice to more people, even people I don't know.
How about you lovely people?

GET A FUCKING JOB.
Pass my exams by more than just the usual few percent.
Drink more.
Play less poker, I go through a hell of a lot for a just few hundred quid.
Meet more people.
Stop laughing every time I see Erskien_Parkour's name.
I really think I'm going to struggle with that last one.

i have one resolution: to spend more time being more outgoing.
'more' shall be further defined at a later date, though...
drink less caffeine
drink less alcohol
go to bed earlier
stop being so silly
stop brooding about silly things
yup that should cover it
Ask our the girl of my dreams.
Do well in GCSEs.
See if I can do a show in the edinburgh festival.
Say yes more.

Clear out my room properly, instead of cleaning the same bit over and over again.
Well that's just a hope really, I don't have NYRs.

As long as I dont get in too much debt and dont drop out of Uni or fail miserably I wont feel I've done too badly. I should probably drink less and do something to keep fit, but if it's a new years resolution I'll break that first one as soon as I make it.
Edit: Sod it, all I really want to do is
Dance like noone is watching

Spend less time on the Internet,
Eat better,
Do more exercise,
Practice piano more,
Chilly pepper
30-12-2006, 04:15 PM
Get better at the old martial arts (I've almost master a whip spin kick)
practise the piano more
accelerate money making (almost reached 1000£!)
be more confident-and I already am rather
Being more confident will leed to you being more stylish or "hip" as you young folk like to call it, which will make you happier, which will make you MORE confident which will probably make you better at things...which will make you more happy, which is the kind of happy that doesn't make you more confident, so the cycle ends.
HOOZAAA everyone! I'm gonna see casino royal on new years day!
I'm determined to:
Work out a bit so i don't look bulimic (sp?)
Take a long break from computer gaming
Go to sleep earlier then 2 on school days -.-

I've always made New Year's Resolutions and kept them for about a week. So this year, my NYRs are to keep my NYR and eat less shite (Quite hard, as Dr. Pepper and chocolate danishes are addictive...) I couldn't stand to be less sarcastic, and I walk about 1 mile a morning on my paper round. This is not an exaggeration, if anything, it's an understatement.
I really do need to cut down on how much shite I eat though, I'm 13 and my boy-boobs are bigger than most of the girls in my class. *sobs quietly*

I have also given them a grade of likeliness which ranges 1-10, (1) being almost certain and (10) being very highly unlikely.
1. Get fit. (8)
2. Smoke more dope. (1)
3. Be more bohemian (2)
4. GET PUBLISHED! (for something, I barely care what anymore) (7)
5. Boycott Coca-Cola Company (and the other) (4)
6. Get dreadlocks. (1)
7. Quit smoking. (10)

Stop fantasizing about my chemistry teacher.
I'm fairly sure this would also help fix the rest of my life. It's going to be hard though...

Try not to break any more of my life. Think very, very carefully before I do anything. Anything at all. :p
Lewiji
30-12-2006, 05:46 PM
Revise. Actually revise. I've never done any proper, solid revision in my life, I have AS exams coming up, and I'm shitting myself because I just don't know how to study.
Manage my money better. I get £30 a week EMA, plus loads of money from my "job" making websites, yet I'm always broke because I spend needlessly on crap I never use. My friends need to help me with this by not using emotional bribery to make me pay for their lunch :p

1) Work out my upper body more, below my waist is all fine :)
2) Pass my driving test
3) Get out more
I think this is the first time anyone has ever has this as a NYR but:
1) Gain weight
Cactusman
30-12-2006, 06:18 PM
Why? (Pretty obvious question)
I'm 2 BMI points underweight.
Im at 18 (10stone, 6'1)
I want to try and get up to 22ish.
(I just gave google a bit of a go, all the BMI sites are saying that I am at an alright weight)
(GOOGLE IS WRONG!)

All of those could be achieved by joining a gym.
Muscle weighs more than fat, the gym probably isn't in your house, there's no internets in the pool and there's hot girls there.
This is why everyone joins a gym at new year.

And why they make you join for at least 6 months... cause they know you'll probably give up after a few weeks :)

Stop obsessing over House
Grow a bit taller, but obv I can't control that...

To try and articulate myself better. Verbal diarrhea and me are best buds.
To express myself better. and LOUDER.
To get out more. Seriously man.

30-12-2006, 10:06 PM
To not have one. Ha ha I made a funny. Seriously though:
Stop screwing up my body clock (unlikely at best)
Stop putting all my hopes etc into one thing
Maybe get fit, possibly, at some point (so unlikely it's not funny)
The problem is that I'm fairly happy with how I am, so thinking of things to change is difficult. (I notice that spending less time on a computer is fairly common; I spend a lot of time on mine, but I'm happy doing it so I'll keep doing it)

Less sitting on my arse, more exercise. Not that I'm overweight, or even unfit, but my current lifestyle predicts a massive coronary within the next 5 years ¬_¬.
Less alcohol. Not applying to Southern Comfort, 'cos I'm making the rules and I like Southern.
Less playing WoW in work.
More doing work in work. In direct correlation to above, no developing extra hobbies to procrastinate with.
Develop a better taste in women.
Make more effort to see friends.
Develop some form of sleep pattern.
Smoke less weed.
Drink less caffeine.
I'm expecting to actually do exactly nil of the above frankly.

Well, my NYR's failed already. Today I've eaten a Twix, a Mars Bar, a bag of Maltesers, a few Quality Streets, an Aero and a bolognese burger and chips. You fat bastard. It's not ALL bad though, I did have a bottle of Fanta Zero earlier. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.

I didn't make any last year I don't think, but this year I intend on doing the following..
Quit smoking
Drink less
Eat healthier
Get a job
Start a band that actually makes music and practices
Because these have probably been the main negatives in my lifestyle during 2006.

3) Exercise - 2 laps around Parker's every other day as well as Ultimate Frisbee training twice a week
4) Post here more often.
Number 4 is the only one I can see realistically working lol.

4) Post here more often.
Number 4 is the only one I can see realistically working lol. you win. all other resolutions in the thread are too clicheed :p
i also made a resolution to not let my ex back over ever again cause he can get rather bad and it usually ends poorly. everyone who knows me cant stand him (and i am pretty fed up with him myself)

This way, it's vague enough so that I can fix a whole lot of things at once!

Stop procrastinating. Well, maybe next year.
Purple Wabbit
02-01-2007, 11:53 AM
1) To eat more healthily and start using my uni gym membership at least twice a week (failing that, to start going jogging in the mornings) - I'm not overweight but my diet consists of junk food and the only exercise I do is the 10 min walk to uni everyday, so a new attitude to healthy living is in order.
2) To start actually listening in lectures, to cease skipping lectures, to prepare the work for supervisions, to stop starting essays the night before they are due in - my grandfather has promised to pay off some of my dtudent debt for me if I get a first, this is a VERY big incentive to do so.
3) To stop being a moody bint when I drink spirits, or just stop drinking spirits, whichever is easier.
4) To stop procrastinating. (Oh the irony)
There's a good chance I will actually keep none of these...
basstard
02-01-2007, 02:34 PM
1. As Wabbit, to use the Uni gym more often. Or the uni swimming pool. Either is good. Once or twice a week preferrably.
2. Once the weather improves, to cycle to university at least once a week [an hour's cycle, an hour on public transport...]
3. To go forth and actually revise.
4. To not leave things until the last minute.
5. To try and be more careful with my money. Every penny I save, be it through websites (www.moneysavingexpert.com) or common sense [taking change to uni as opposed to getting tenners out ATMs], will go into a big jar that will eventually be used to buy me one of these (http://www.greatbeanbags.com/product_details.asp?d=1&c=7&p={F6DEDA64-5223-4E77-B15D-441DB684AAD3}).
6. To actually try and keep these resolutions.

#3. GET A JOB (and keep it...)

#5. Wear More Ties
#6. Stump Sarah P, the local radio DJ know-it-all.

I have never made a New Year's Resolution, but what the heck:
Um.... spend less time playing Twilight Princess. (I'm getting dreams of how to do the next part. IT'S FREAKY!!!)
Don't wear my pyjamas all day on weekends.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm underweight for my size, anyone
know a site where I can find out if I am or not?

New Years Resolutions are, IMO, pointless. Why the hell wait for a certain date to improve yourself? It's not like giving up smoking will be better for you if you start on January first, or something. Therefore, I have never made a New Years Resolution, and probably never will.
Edit:
I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm underweight for my size, anyone
know a site where I can find out if I am or not?
Quetelet Index. Divide your body weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres. For example, if you're 1.50 metres long, and you weigh 45 kilograms, you do 45/(1.50*1.50=2.25)=20.
Anything between 20 and 25 means you're a good weight. Under 20 is underweight, over 25 is overweight.

4.Stop being such a bitch to...well generally everyone except Aaron - not going too well

I haven't made any resolutions this year because it always seems like I'm trying to predetermine/control the future, and it always ends horribly. The only thing I might entertain making as some sort of resolution would be to quit smoking but that's not a guaranteed thing.
