I like macs. I just think whoever designed those teeny circle mice was not thinking too clearly.

Macs are cool, it's just from my experience whoever said they were crashproof was right...It doesn't pop up an error message, it just sits there for a few months until it works again...

... or Linux... because of the free-ness and the better security and the fact that it is made by people rather than multi-millionaires who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. not that i hate microsoft or anything! :p

cant say much though cause i use windows... just cause the programs i use run better on it! :nana:

In the bad old days, when I was the only Mac tech within 250 miles of Odessa, I worked on macs that crashed constantly. If yours only crashed once in ten years, you may personally take credit for it. That sort of service requires knowledge and diligence above the capabilities of the ordinary end user.

There was one old fella up in Hpbbs whose Mac crashed every month or so. Of course, it was all his doing, but there was no convincing him of it. He once drove the 100 miles to Odessa because his monitor was shimmying very badly. I could not cuplicate the problem in the shop. I had him check for sources of electrical interference by the computer. When he got home, he discovered that the ancient electric clock he had placed within one inch of the monitor was the culprit. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!

don't get me wrong, macs are good for certain reasons. i just like windows better. one thing that influences this is that when you close a window THE PROGRAM ACTUALLY QUITS. unlike mac, which you either have to go to the option bar at the top, or hit [little apple buttony thing]+Q. also, more programs are written for windows, as less than 6% of people use macs.

...and schools...most of the time...

haha! The first thing I do if my screen has a disturbance is move all the electrical stuff around it. It always fixes.

I wish we used Macs at our school.

I think which one you buy depends on what sort of things you want to do on it.

PCs

Gaming
General Use for families etc cause all the programs work.

Macs

Design Work
Easy, simple, quick, responsive casual use!
Video Editing etc.

I am currently saving for a Mac and have had countless (actually its 3) demos at my local Apple store. They suit what I do, as I use a GameCube for gaming (but lets not start on that).

However I can see the advantages of PCs and when the vast majority of the population use them its hard to pull away from them.

Im not normally a mac fan myself, but have you seen the new powermac G5?!?! That machine is sweet!

In the meantime, im perfectly happy with my athlon 64 running xp. It more than gets the job done and I much prefer windows for network configuration among other things.

Have you tried the demo of the 64bit Windows edition, apparently it's pretty good, the partitioning of the hard drive is annoying though!
