As much as I still love Playstation (possibly against my better judgement), surely the Wiimote is far more deserving? Didn't Sony put in motion sensing technology after the Wiimote was unveiled?

Is this mainly because Nintendo doesn't have a presence at CES?
Otherwise I agree SIXAXIS doesn't deserve the presteige, unless they plan to give another award to Microsoft for the "sidewinder".

A conversation at sony after Nintendo reveal Wii-mote...
" Yeah so this new consoles nearly done?"-Business dude
"Hell yes!"-Techy dude
"Sir! Nintendo are putting motion sensors in their controller!"-Assistant
"ZOMFG!"-Business dude
"Don't worry I'll just stick some different type of motion sensor in there and say its better"-Techy dude
"Rofl that was a close one"-Assistant
"Lets party,party,party,party!"
(Not real conversation)

I just think sony were trying to be both the Xbox powerhouse beater and the Nintendo innovation when they didn't plan to.
But meh what can I do?

Oh well. At least it won't make up for their shitty console sales.

It's kind of a strange choice, but to be honest it really won't mean anything in the end. Console awards are always weird.

Lol. Simply lol.

I realise this is a hugely pointless post if all it says is "lol", but really...I'm lost for words. Honestly. And what Sony Exec Mr Bigwig said makes it even more lol.

""The overwhelming consumer demand (http://hacks.joystiq.com/2007/01/07/gamestop-pulls-out-creative-stops-to-move-ps3s/) [really? (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/plenty-o-ps3s-but-no-takers-225271.php)] and critical acclaim (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/time-magazine-deems-ps3-a-bust/) for PS3 is testament of the platform's strength and the industry's desire for a true next-generation entertainment system," commented Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America."

It also won an award for innovation. I didn't realise having an almost-identical 10-year-old design counted as innovation.

Well, the name is nice at least. SixAxis. Rolls off the tongue. Doesn't deserve an award though, especially over the Wii Remote.

Well, the name is nice at least. SixAxis. Rolls off the tongue. There is that. It's a damn sight better than PooS or whatever the hell they were going to call it at first.

Also, Joe G's dramatisation up there is pretty much how I imagine it happened too :p

I keep reading the thread title as "an enemy for SIXAXIS" and thinking "WHAT? WHERE? HOW? WHO? WHY? RSVP?"

That too was a joke, about how Sony like to copy everything.

Truly Sony have been silly people this week. :p

I have the feel that the "sony fuck up yet again" thread should have been stickied, it seems we have a new thing to laugh at them for every week. :D
