I'm not the only career geek on these forums. Who else out there is a nerd-for-hire? Where do you work? What are your favorite tools? Your favorite software? What network do you use?
Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm young, but I work for game development company Vis Entertainment (http://www.visentertainment.com/). Well, kind of-the last thing I worked on was the new Evil Dead game, and that wasn't much just a bit of tidying work really. The last game I worked on fully was H.E.D.Z. and IMO that was very underrated :)
I generally work freelance though, and although there isn't much up there my own company is called Xeb Software and it's webpage is here (http://www.xebsoftware.com).
I use Multimedia Fusion 1.5 for applications, DarkBASIC Pro for 3D and C++ for VIS. I haven't used C++ for a few years now though so I'm a bit under-practised :) I don't actually have a network right now. I work over the internet.

:D Work hard and never give up. Only get a mainstream job if you have to. (If that sounds like bad advice, I am only saying you should follow your dreams.)

I'm studying Digital Media, 'majoring' (since I can't find a better way of explaining it) in Multimedia.
I am also a systems admin for my old primary school and have just started a job which involves downloading Linux distros. :p
Not to mention I'm also a typist (and systems admin) for my parents business.

Not got a job yet (besides weekend barman) but i've worked in a council office before (2 months).
Avid html writer and have been for about 4 years now. I write my own sites. It's only lately i've been testing out java, looking at C/C++ and php.
I love tinkering with things. A LOT. if theres a hidden setting, i'll find it and hack it.
Just got Resource hacker aswell, so i'm itching to try that out on something :p

I'm currently at the lowest step of the geek ladder. Internet Technical Support.
However I am one of the most senior seniors so that's OK.

I'm IT Systems Administrator for a large waste disposal company. As well as the LAN's on the various sites, I also maintain the computer systems which control weighbridge operation and deal with automatic ticket processing (a legally binding and therefore very important process). I supply all technical support throughout the company and often advise different departments on IT related matters. I also train users to use various software.
I could go on for quite a while. But put basically, at my company, I am IT. If it's got IT in it, I'm there.
Some days are nightmarishly hectic.
And other days, like this, I do bugger all.
I like my job.
I wish it paid more though
