Well, I'm shooting a film with some friends in a couple of weeks' time and I was looking for some songs that I could use. I have a strange way of directing, I actually find the song that would suit the scene best and then synaesthetically recreate the scene from that. It's worked quite well in the past.

Anyway, the film is almost dominated by songs by The Clash - the actually name of the movie is The Guns of Brixton - but there's a scene that just wouldn't suit a Clash song. Basically, a gang of revolutionaries are hiding in a locked room, waiting for their target to enter so that they can shoot him dead and end his tyranical reign. However, before the man enters, he makes an alcoholic named Picasso open the door as he senses something is wrong. Picasso unlocks it and is completely filled with bullets from the arsenal of guns and falls backwards down a flight of stairs.

The build up to it is a lot like the clip from this movie - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb0EQDDe7Qg). Actually, I pretty much got the idea from it but although the music would be perfect for my film, I don't want to use the same song.

Does anyone know a similar song with a rising tempo and sudden stop at the end? Plussage for anyone who recommends a great song, even if I don't use it.

Heres something in the same style, maybe going a bit into the song so you get the tempo change as you might want. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyKvD-4IxOY)

About 2:40 into the song.

Benny Hill Theme is always a winner though.

Good question, not the remix but go down to the video, its rather fast and they're willing to get their music out there.

Battery by Metallica.
Has an acoustic build up, somewhat reminiscent of the scene in Lock Stock you linked, but, with more of a serious air. It does turn into quite a fast tempo, galloping riff after a minute or so. With a bit of creative editing, moving the slow and fast bits around so that they flow into each other quicker, which wouldn't be too hard, I think it would go well with what you're looking for.

Hopefully you wont just have overlooked that whole post the minute you saw "Metallica". Here's a link, ignore the stupid anime video with it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6MeMxyXelg)

Could use some cheesy drum and bass (DJ Fresh or Pendulum or something) or maybe something hard like Bad Company UK. They quite often have drum breakdowns that degenerate into that grating noise of a drum at something stupid BPM.

I would recommend Green Day's Espionage.

Fits what you're looking for exactly, or so it seems.

P.S. Did you hear Unwritten Law's cover for The Guns Of Brixton? I like very.

Melt-Banana - F.D.C. for Short would be good, if you like gun shots.

Thread title immediately made me think, of course, of Flight of the Bumblebee. I don't think it would fit, though :p
