I know that the second of these is taking place right now and I don't know why I didn't start this thread before I went, but I was at the first ever sold out new Wembley Stadium gig! And what a gig. Muse are amazing and put on the best show imaginable. I don't think I'll ever see anything of the kind again.

Shame about the support acts though. Bands like Klaxons and Bloc Party would have easily beaten the supports that I saw. To be fair, Rodrigo y Gabriela were awesome and The Streets weren't bad (Dirty Pretty Things were shit in every way, I was so bored), but bands that are more popular among Muse fans surely would have been the common sense choice?

Also, I saw a someone wearing a shirt with the :jam: on it. I pointed out that her shirt was awesome but didn't stick around to listen to a reply as I was desperately needing a piss. Wonder who it was...

AKA jet engines. Why don't all toilets have hand dryers like hat?

Our local cinema has those hand dryers, they're a right laugh.

It was really quite amazing. The crowd down in the pit where i was were totally bonkers, and it made it all the better.

Totally wasn't expecting the acrobats either.

Ooh, ooh, were you in the pit on the left-centre at the front of the bit that isn't a special circle? Cos I started the New Born pit there.

I wish you posted this earlier because if it was televised i would of known about it and would of watched it.
When they come back up to Newcastle I'm going to see them for sure.

A pit for new born? you just want me to jump out of a window don't you :p

A pit for every song. Anyway, New Born is one of Muse's best songs, and when he picks up his guitar it's absolutely wild.

I'm not the biggest Muse fan ever but I have to say last night was probably the best gig I've been to. Those balloon acrobat people were pretty awesome.

Muse were better at Reading.
It wasn't loud enough.
Atmosphere was pretty rubbish (where I was).

But it was still pretty amazing. I would gave preferred going tonight though so I could have seen Daft Punk last night. :(

Nah I was on the right hand side in one of the "circles" (Triangles tbh).

I have no complaints about the sound personally, other than during the streets (who kicked the crap out of DPT if you ask me) when the bass seemed to drown out everything else

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, I was supposed to go with my freind on a massive coach trip down to London, but APPARENTLY he had to take his girlfriend instead of me.

"Bro's over Ho's man" But NOOOOOO. Cock job. Missed the best gig of my life it would seem.

I think a little piece of my soul has just died.

I dunno, I just felt that it couldn't hurt to bump it up a notch or two, there were times when I just couldn't hear the songs very well. I know that can be a problem with such huge shows (I'm looking at you, Hyde Park) but still..

I was up the front at the left, before the first barrier (i.e. just before the halfway line) behind some guy with a red nintendo t-shirt (if anyone else was round there) and there loads of people around us just not moving, or simply bobbing up and down. The atmosphere was just a little bit...stale.

However, the band themselves I don't think put a foot wrong, there were some other songs that I wanted them to play, but thats not really a problem, superb entrance, superb stage show, superb playing...

Also, anyone whose been to both, is it just me or is Wembley's pitch smaller than the Millenium Stadium?

I was at the right a couple meters beyond the second crowd bar. The atmosphere was anything but stale there. Also had the aerial acrobatics just a couple meters away which was pretty cool. They put on a great show, a brilliant set too.

Supports, Rodrigo y Gabriela were very impressive, although 45 mins (or however long it was) was probably a bit much. Dirty Pretty Things were dull to be frank. I don't know weather that was in part due to it sounding like the bass guitar was just not plugged in. I couldn't hear it at all for the entire set, and the second guitar vanished a couple times too. The Streets, well they were pretty crap to start with, although got better as their set went on.

The most fun bit though was the drive back. We took a wrong turn somewhere along the way and ended up on a nice little tour of central London. I don't think I've been across Tower Bridge at night before, was pretty nice.

edit: Oh, and how could I forget, I think that had to be one of the worst smelling pits I've ever been at. Seriously, I was at Download last weekend and even after 5 days in a field the smell wasn't that bad.

The funny thing was, it didn't sound that loud, until you realized you couldn't hear yourself singing as loud as you possibly can (and I have quite a loud voice).

I just got back from tonight's show. Fuck me that was awesome. Best songs for me were Plug In Baby (of course) and Unintended. The supports were pretty good too (MCR in particular were great but half the crowd hadn't even turned up and most of the rest weren't interested in them which was a shame), but what a show Muse put on. I wasn't overly impressed with the crowd in general, especially in the bit around me where most of them seemed to want to just sit down and listen (yeah I was in a seated bit). But once it got dark the atmosphere improved immensely. Overall one of the best days of my life easily (whether that's because it was so awesome or because my life is severely lacking in "best day of my life" material, I dunno.)

Oh, also, I do remember having problems hearing the support acts' music, in that the bass and drums seemed to dominate the songs. Maybe that was just a result of being high up or something. It wasn't like that for Muse though so like I care.

God your so lucky, Muse has been one of my favorite bands since Absolution. I wish I could go but living where I do not much happens. No concerts even remotely close.

did they play their new song? (man of mystery)Yes. It's also worth noting that it is a The Shadows cover.

Also, the reason that the support acts don't sound as good as Muse is because they were most likely hogging all the channels on the mixing desk, leaving the support bands not many to play with, or maybe the supports even had a seperate mixer that was not as good.

Ah, well that explains that. I thought it was because of how big Wembley is and how we were so high up. I mean we were 5 rows from the top in the very highest part of the stadium. It was still awesome though.

I'm pretty sure the bands have their own equipment. Its usually provided by their record company as far as I know. I'm only saying this because my mates' band are being lent a fuckload of equipment by a recording company who are scouting them for me to play with when I PA at their gig next month.

Bleeding Jesus, yes!

I went last night. I was pleased to be going to the second date 'cause overall it had better support...but we missed Shy Child :(

Did see Biffy though! So that was great. MCR really are poor live, I can tell you that. It may be quite energetic at first but it just gets boring.

I saw Muse last year at Reading and was pretty darn close up, so it was interesting seeing them from a distance seated in Wembley Stadium (which when I entered it at first, suffered from some very mild form of vertigo which sketched me out a smidge).

Anyway, yeah Muse were massive, and they played loads of great tracks, but unfortunately not Assassin from the new album or the new instrumental track Man Of Mystery...but who am I to complain?

Also, we rushed out just before Muse said goodbye, thinking we were clever, but the whole stadium emptied just after us so we got caught up in the Police crowd control and missed the first train home. Finally got back at about 3am, and had an exam today at 8:30, so got about 4 hours sleep :/

Yeah I did, and started singing Hot In Here by Nelly...
Made some people laugh hehe

I just found this setlist:

Knights of Cydonia
Hysteria
Supermassive Black Hole
Map of the Problematique + Maggie's Farm riff
City of Delusion
Butterflies & Hurricanes
Citizen Erased
Hoodoo
Feeling Good
Piano interlude + Sunburn (piano)
Invincible
Starlight
Man of Mystery
Time Is Running Out
New Born + Microphone Fiend riff + Ashamed outro
Encore 1:
Soldier's Poem (acoustic guitar)
Unintended
Blackout
Plug In Baby
Encore 2
Micro Cuts
Riff + Stockholm Syndrome + riffs
Take a Bow

Don't think it's the same one as the second night, 'cause Bellamy played some Rage Against The Machine riffs, not Rage Against The Machine-covering-other-bands-in-the-album-Renegades riffs...I think he played the guitar solo near the end of Killing In The Name of on Sunday?

/edit:

Close Encounters Riff + Knights of Cydonia
Hysteria
Supermassive Black Hole
Map of the Problematique
Forced In
Sing for Absolution
Butterflies & Hurricanes
Hoodoo
Apocalypse Please
Feeling Good
Piano interlude + Sunburn (piano)
Invincible
Starlight
Blues Jam + Time Is Running Out
New Born + Microphone Fiend riff + Ashamed outro
Encore 1:
Soldier's Poem (acoustic guitar)
Unintended
Blackout
Bliss
Encore 2:
Plug In Baby
Stockholm Syndrome + riffs
Take a Bow

That's the Sunday setlist, but still says Microphone Fiend...don't know if that's correct to be honest.

I got it all from this: http://www.musewiki.org/London_Wembley_Stadium_2007_-_17th_%28gig%29

Also says they covered Gravity's Rainbow by Klaxons???

damn you, damn you all!

I probably could have gone, but wasn't sure where money was needing to go this summer and i'm on limited funds until next student loan in september.

i've got the man of mystery track off muses NME cd of stuff they like, tis awesome, but what people have said of these gigs makes me jealous.

I can't believe i missed matt bellamy playing rage against the machine riffs, that sounds so cool.

The little improv bits, coupled with the change between guitars proved that Bellamy can play in a number of styles. It was like seeing Prince, Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix...all through Bellamy's guitar playing. And the piano parts were either classical or bluesy, and I think even electronic in a few instances.

he got through four different guitars in five songs irrc. On saturday anyway.
