Right, let me get this straight, I do like YouTube. I like how people can voice themselves with no real censorship online. I like how you can watch a good programme at any time without having to record or stay in to see it and I like my new layout :).

But am I the only one that thinks that YouTube has a bit of a clique thing going on with it? It seems like the owners only want emo teenagers to record themselves whining online so that people will call shout abuse at them. Even the featured videos that I think were pretty well done annoy me. I suppose I am a bit jealous about it all because I haven't really found anything worthwhile saying on the internet on my own but I just think that there are better videos out there that took somebody months to make and edit, not a few minutes. I don't mean mine by the way, so it's your fault if you watch them at get all moody.

What's your opinion on the site? Yeah, I bet this has been done, but I couldn't find it and the thread's probably really old...if existant.

I never got into YouTube that hardcore.
For me, it's a piracy tool and a comedy tool.
And a social experiment to see how many of the hundred thousands comments don't 'get it', and how many are telling those people that they don't 'get it'.

I don't like the thousands of video blogs on YouTube and the obsessive fanboy nature of the fans of those blogs.

I love youtube.

Not for the random funny videos, but for people's video blogs. And while I do subscribe to some of the most popular people on there, I much prefer the more personal vlogs.

The kind who only have a handful of subscribers and always take the time to respond to any comments you leave. I've made some good (online) friends via that site.

YouTube is excellent for people such as as magic_pea (see signature).

And I would add more, except I must bugger off for a prom :/

I do like Youtube, but one thing that tends to annoy me (and I suppose it goes for other websites of that nature) is that people upload boring, uninspired videos of themselves, and then put nearly every word they can think of into the keywords. It just really gets on my nerves.

But other than that, I think it is a great place for people to express themselves.

People actually look at the video blogs on youtube? How very sad.

I go there to watch funny, disturbing, and/or violent clips of random crap. Which is what I always assumed the site was meant for in the first place.

a fat guy falling off a moped must be the funniest thing i've seen on youtube. or the kid who got scared by his brother. youtube has good stuff but is mainly shit.

You mean 'Fat Kid Gets Scared'? I wonder what that clip's about...

Bah, it annoys me when you get some rich kid posting video blogs about himself really, especially if it does well. It is a kind of jealousy - but only because my films take months to prepare for and nearly all of them have been too incomplete to actually upload.

This is the truth. I love magic_pea's videos. He needs to make more! He is the only user I'm subscribed to.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous, I think Youtube should never had been about a self obsession like that, it's plain uninteresting. It's jealously, but it's the right kind, like where the dick gets the promotion and you don't.

I sound pissed off actually, i'm not, but it's certainly annoying.

Youtube should really require more effort. I go there for assorted trailers and the related videos, comedic poop and the rare touching video (in whatever way it may be).

I rarely use YouTube.

I will look at a YouTube video if linked, sure. But if it's someone's video blog, and not recommended by someone whose tastes I trust, odds are I won't watch. I do use YouTube for snippets of shows - for example, Fifth Gear - and as the Cheesebin knows I occasionally pop something silly (and hopefully vaguely amusing) up there myself.

I won't specifically mosy around YouTube like I would a social networking site (eg Facebook) or someone's blog, though.

youtube is obviously a good site, otherwise it would not be as big as it is now.

But I only go onto it to watch videos of stuff from tv, film and stuff not made by anyone on youtube.

The comments are 90% crap, and add nothing. Get rid of the comments, and I think they would probably get more videos.

I personally prefer daily motion when I upload videos, they allow bigger files and you don't get bombarded by angry 12 year old emos.

I think I'd really like it if someone does a Charlie Brooker-esque slag-off of the site and then posts it. You have to be relatively old to do that though, or you look like an angry teenage knob-end.

There's so many sites out there like Youtube; that there's something for everyone. funny or die is much better, but I still go on Youtube every once in a while. I think it's good that the best videos can get some real attention.

If you can find me a webcam that doesn't bore me after a minute of some cunt babbling on about himself or herself or itself in a dull boring monologue, I will watch it.

Heh. I was drunk when I wrote that. And nope, I probably can't find one that doesn't bore you :)

I like the historical stuff put on youtube, I mean WWII propaganda films and newsreels and stuff like that. Machina as well (though there are plenty of places for that).

I mean where else would you find stuff like this?

Soviet propaganda cartoon!

I personally find youtube too much effort. If i'm looking for something funny to pass the time, I'll use something else. However the tube is, tbh a great host for videos, which can be promoted by the makers. The features videos are rather shit. See sig for whoreing

Oh, it is a great site, I agree. I just wish they'd focus more on the stuff that took people ages to make and people who deserve attention than some bored girl with a webcam, blabbing on about her life. It seems that all the featured videos are about Youtube, and that's just stupid.

I love Youtube but I find the people who comment on it to be totally brain dead cnuts.

Youtube commenters:
Seem to think everything is a conspiracy (moon landings, 9/11, Diana, I even found a video saying that scientists were hiding the 'fact' that the Earth is physically expanding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjgidAICoQI&mode=related&search=) :\),
All hate America,
Are all fanboys,
Are fascist skinheads,
Are rascist, sexist and homophobic,
And somehow can turn a video about pet kittens into a flame war on America

Truth.
It can sometimes be quite satisfying to get into an argument with one of them though.

I only really use it for Music Videos and various comedy clips. 99.99% of it is shite.
