I always use "club" music to describe the general dancy shite (shite only in my opinion, I'm well aware people like it before anyone says anything) I remember hearing in them. I've never heard a song I like in a club. That's probably because I like music which isn't really dancing friendly though.

Anyway I voted Rock, Metal and Punk, since those are probably the closest to what I like.

I would vote for the jazz, but I would prefer much more diversity in the poll, since there are subgenres I just don't like (some avant-garde stuff just annoys me) and others I approve of most. :p

Genre classifications are a constant source of angst to me, I wish genres just didn't exist because I waste so much time being all OCD sorting out the genres in my itunes music library. I hate to tag an album with a new genre because then there's only one album in that genre and it feels messy, so I chicken out and put a lot of things in "misc" but that itself bugs me and makes me feel like a failure. I should get hypnotism to make me not care about genres or something.

Had a big debate about post-rock last night, my friend says Team Sleep, The Notwist and Lali Puna are all post rock and it really annoyed me. He said they are all "basically the same thing" and it made me feel queezy.

I love indie music as it is at the moment because I feel it's taking rock and roll back to the days of the Beatles (come on, anyone who's of heard the Arctic Monkeys has to admit they're a lot like the Beatles).

The 90's sucked. Royally. Far too much pop and clubland stuff for my liking.

What the hell, Splush. The Notwist are not post-rock. Post-rock is serialism and minimalism, and whilst the Notwist are awesome, they do not have that in them at all.

Also what the hell, rook. Nirvana? Godspeed You Black Emperor? Radiohead? REM? The Pixies? The grunge movement? Post Rock? The rise of hip-hop? The 90s were great.

And the Arctic Monkeys are only like the beatles in that they copied their style (as does almost every single band ever, it's not a bad thing), not in any other way. Modern indie rock is mostly tosh and piffle I think.

I personally like a massive variety of music. Inlcuding classical, prog of many sorts, classic rock, indie, drum and bass, metal, ambient, I could go on but I really can't be bothered. I dont see the point in sticking to one particular genre. Its pretty narrow minded really.

I listen to any old shite if it's catchy.

I chose rock, metal and heavy metal on the poll wotsit just because I find it hard to know where to draw the line between one genre and the next there. An example would be that Guns N Roses (my favourite band, but only pre-Spaghetti Incident) are classic rock, but there's a lot of heavy riffs and anger there, so you could say they're metal. Ditto Led Zep- sort of metal, sort of blues, sort of folk.

Not that I'm being snotty about the poll; I don't really vote in these polls to pick holes in them, not all the time anyway :P I just like to see all the differences in opinion, see what everyone's into, then be a mouthy cow and ramble on about classic rock for hours.

They are one of my favourite bands and the genre that turned up on itunes was Zombie Garage Rock.
