I've recently acquired the aforementioned mobile phones, and I'm having some rather major troubles. There are meant to be things called 'soft keys', which are like backlit buttons. They're not coming on, and when I press the space where they should be, nothing happens. I honestly don't know what's wrong, as my dad (who bought it) said that it worked fine when he bought it.
Can anybody assist?
The phone sounds broken to me. More likely it's the hardware that's got the problem, but it could be the firmware, needs flashing. Send it back anyway.

I agree, take it back.
Look on the bright side though, it's a tough phone. I put mine in the washing machine for 15 minutes and it survived!

Do you have the receipt and know anyone who lives in the UK that you can trust? The problems with mobiles is they generally have their own warranty within the country that it was purchased from. This is a general issue with the E900, but mainly the heat sensitive keypad not usually the main part under the slide.

I don't mean the part under the slide. I mean the heat sensitive keypad. Sorry for being ambiguous.

Oh. In which case, that breaks a lot.
Just checked Samsung warranty and it seems it is country wide and Greece isn't on their list. Does your dad have the receipt or does he remember where he got it from? Also would you be able to post it back to someone in the UK?

Have you taken the battery off for a minute and taken out the sim card? (if it is a GSM phone). If it isn't a GSM phone have you still tried to take the battery off to clear any cache out of the phone? Do you have any sort of warranty replacement plans/carrier insurance on the phone? Also have you seen any sort of green or white stuff around your battery or in the back of the phone?

Resetting the battery (Or doing a software reset or update) shouldn't effect the keypad. It could be water damage if thats what you're suggesting but again if it is one key, mainly the heat sensitive keypad it is more likely its bust. (Especially on the E900)
Tehmoogles, if you can post it to someone in the UK and have a receipt then you can go to any Carphone Warehouse and they will send it off or repair it for you on site for free. Even if you didn't buy it from them. If, however, livewirekitty is right and it is water damage it cannot be fixed properly under warranty. There are ways using different forms of acid to errode the corrosion but I wouldn't advise it.
