I wasn't sure where to put this but as it's most likely a computer problem I put it in here

So here the deal;
Recently bought supreme commander, been playing it alot today and yesterday
yesterday was fine , but today it was crashing randomly.
I wasn't sure if it was that I was making too many units (thus putting strain on the processor?) or something to do with our graphics card. We sometimes get problems with the graphics card in other games but it never crashes the game, just minimises it.
Any ideas?
I've tried google but its very hard to find the right problem
I turn to you good people

halp? :)

1. I assume that you computer meets the minimum if not, the recommended spec. for the game?

2. Have you actually noticed the game cutting out when you build a certain number of units on a specific map?

3. Have you installed all of the latest stable drivers for all of your hardware?

4. Are you running a shed-load of programs in the background? What happens to game/computer stability if you close them?

Your video card problem sounds weird.... but minimizing the programme almost sounds as though it's a result of something else. Marinus' points are the importantness things you need to look at. Download new driver firmware, and Ctrl+Alt+Del / Cancel most (or all) running programmes. You might need to disable some virus and firewall things if your game uses the web for any of its features.

Is the Graphics Card ati?
Sounds like a product of the great ATI empire -.-

If it is, try to fiddle around with the Catalyst control Center.
It works always. :)

If not, then I haven't been any assistance. :(

When playing C&C3 with 2 human players and 3 CPU players on a Pentium 4 3ghz 1gb RAM with a Radeon 9600XT, if the CPU players spam enough units, the game will crash with an OUT_OF_MEMORY error. It could be this for you also, though its hard to be sure if you can't get an error dialog.

I think you mean drivers rather than firmware. Firmware is software on a device, drivers allow the device and the computer to interact.

An iffy graphics card can't reeeeally minimise an application. At least I cannot think of any situation that could cause it. A minimising application is to do with the OS... crashing is much more likely to be a graphics card problem.

Try bumping up your virtual memory. :)
