We've just got a wireless connection at my house, which is good for all our PCs. But I cannot get access to my Xbox Live because I don't have a wireless adapter for my 360 or a long enough crossover cable to reach to the router from my room to the downstairs area where the router is stationed.
Is there any other way I can get onto Xbox Live?

Not really, its wireless for the 360 or its a network cable. Also, most new routers nowadays can detect crossover and patch and work accordingly.

Right so I have to fork out £55 for a wireless adapter then. Thanks for the support.
Before we got wireless, I setup a ICS with my PC and my 360 and had my 360 hooked up to my PC via ethernet. Obviously I can't do that now (or can I?). So I'll just have to save and wait...

either that, or fork out about £10-20 for a good thirty or fifty metres of ethernet cable. That'll do you nicely, unless you live in a mansion or something.

True but it defeats the whole point of wireless.
If push comes to shove I can make one up. Steal some cable from my dad's work ;P.

Do you have wireless on a computer near the Xbox? If so you could plug the Xbox into the computer via a crossover cable and create an ad-hoc network. Then open the wireless internet connection on the computer to be used by other computers on the network.
That should work.

Yes that is the case. I shall try that now thanks!
How would I go about setting up an ad hoc network? I'm a techie, you'd expect me to know this. Believe it or not though, this is the first time I have ever worked with wireless.

I think you can plug the xbox via crossover into the computer nearby, then on that computer open up network connections in control panel, select the wireless and the LAN connection, right click and then bridge networks. That worked for me as a passthrough straight through to the router. If that doesn't work, then setup ICS.
