View Full Version : Well Made Spam

This online drug store keeps sending me spam, at first it was one or two a month, now I can expect as many as 4 in a single week. Any ideas how to shake the buggers off?

None of my ISP's filters work on them (clearly), and they always come from different addresses, most likely temporary. Odd thing though, next to the recipient's email address (mine) it never says my name, it's always something like 'Leanne Brown'. But it is my email address.

This is what my inbox looks like, all of these are spams:

And this is one of the more recent ones:

Though the addressee's name is always female (and always different), I am not. Any help getting rid of these would be most appreciated (short of changing email accounts).

Can you set your own filters? Some emails clients can.
It seems pretty hard to tackle, as the ads are images then it has random text.

I can only filter for the address of the sender or recipient, and the sender's address changes every time. I'm also slightly worried as to how it can show an alias other than my own next to my email address (the blanked-out one).

No, my name is not Emelia Knight. This name changes every time too.

Don't be. That name is sent by the sender, not filled in by your email software, and programs that send email can put any name they want there - the only part that matters is the email address. I could send a message to "Mr Blobby <test@example.com>", "Frank <test@example.com>" or "Reginald Kookoo-Bananas <test@example.com>" and they'd all wind up in the same inbox. Lots of spam programs generate fake names to put there.

i've got the same problem, can't we report the company for spamming at some important agency?

When I get spam problem like that, I just have to get a different address. No desirable, of course, but at least it works.
