A while ago I received a cracked copy of windows blinds, I have had this on my computer for about a year now, I have now got a copy of Vista and I wanted to just go and do the simple upgrade from XP to Vista, so I went about doing so, it did the compatibility test and saw the windows blinds wasn’t compatible with vista, this wasn’t an issue as I just have it running a Vista skin.

So I went and uninstalled windows blinds then went to do the upgrade, half way through the installation a message popped up, it seams that a file was missing when I burnt the disk, so I couldn’t carry on with the installation.

Not knowing when I would be able to get to my parents house again to burn another copy so I did a system restore to try and get the programs back that I uninstalled to do the upgrade, for some reason it only brought some of windows blinds back so when I try and uninstall it it wont work and it thinks its already been uninstalled

The obvious thing I could think of would be to reinstall windows blinds and then uninstall it but I don’t have the disk anymore with it on

What can I do, as I don’t really want to go and do a fresh install of vista if I don’t have to?

Cheers

Sometimes you can just delete the main folder of a program in program files then go to Add/remove programs and click delete and it will just dissapear off the list.Hope that helps

is there a free trial of windows blinds? (i've never used it you see)

if so, try installing then uninstalling that?

either that or look for another cracked copy online (as long as you uninstall it again right away i guess you're not doing anything too illegal, so hopefully we can get away with discussing this here :p)

Midget's idea should work if the files are identical to the earlier version of windowblinds.

I would however advise against a simple upgrade. They aren't as bulletproof and reliable as a fresh install.

Cool, I'll download the free trial and give it a whirl. I got no beefs with paying £10 for it if it's as cool as it sounds.

I would have to say that you're replacing a superior product with an inferior one. If you're dead set on it do a clean install, if not, get more value for money out of your computer and reinstall XP with a sensible partitioning scheme.
