Nokia N95...and 3

Bowing to the knowledge of you forumites, I come to seek knowledge.

I'm on 3, and locked into a contract 'til next April. I'm enjoying some of the benefits, msn, ebay, wotnot, but damnit, I need a new phone. I've got a W850i, and it does the job, but I'm lusting after an N95. The sat-nav's a real selling point for me, since I can't find my way out of a cereal box without help, and I wanted to get one sometime anyway.

3 will not give me any info on when it will be available on their network. A month or so ago someone in one of their stores said "next week" and now they're saying they can't give out any info. And the people on the helpline are just as useless. My money's burning a hole in my pocket, and I'm getting gadget-related craziness.

So, I've been looking at the unlocked ones on Ebay and I'm thinking hard about it. My friend has one on an alternate network, but he's adamantly telling me that it will not work (even if it's unlocked) on 3. And I need to know before I shell out a hell of a lot of money. He could be winding me up to make sure I don't spike his drink and nick his, or he could be telling the truth.

Anyone know? Anyone got an unlocked one on 3?

You will be happy to know that 3 now have the v.12 of the N95 on there network, it is only free on £45 tariffs unfortunatly. the sat nav really isn't very good unless it is a clear day & it doesn't work from inside a car without the optional GPS kit. i have also found with mine that the battery life is only short (4-6 hours) esspesially when using the phone.
